I still get a cold sweat thinking about a necklace I think I put in my jewellery box and then never saw again.

Or my white gold and diamond ring I took off because it needed repairing and then it feel out of a box and I couldn't find where it had fallen.

And the whole bottle of perfume I must have put in the bin. 🙈

Anyone else as idiotic or forgetful as me?

A friend lost a ring that was very important to her, as she took it off to have an xray. She got home and realised it was gone, so her DH, who is a doctor at the hospital contacted the xray dept who obviously searched high and low, to no avail- so the staff retrieved all the bin bags from the day, and managed to stop the laundry truck- and xrayed every single one- sadly, with no joy.

The following day she found the ring in her coat pocket Grin

A family hand me down christening gown, made by my grandmother. It was given to me for ds1 (who wasn't christened) and I left it in the loft of the house me and ds moved out of. Still gutted.

My diamond tennis bracelet at my daughters graduation last year. One moment it was on my wrist the next it was gone

I didn't do it but my friend is an 'estate manager ' and his job was to go through the sheds at work and sort things out, wether to keep or to take to the tip. He found some old rugs and he took them to the tip, turns out the rugs cost over £10,000 !!

My mums engagement and eternity rings. She was in hospital, couldn't wear them anymore, swollen fingers due to arthritis. I put them in an envelope for safe keeping, accidently chucked them in the bin though. She was so good about it, love her.

Everything I ever wanted to keep. We were emigrating. I put all my most treasured possessions in one bag. Family friends were helping to clear the house. I didn’t realise it had gone until it was already in the tip. We went back but they said that container was no longer accessible.

I’m 99% certain I threw my iPhone out last Saturday. 1% of me can’t believe I did it but I didn’t go anywhere between having the phone on Saturday night and discovering I didn’t have it on Sunday morning (other than to go out to the bins). Spent days turning the house upside down looking for it before I concluding I must have chucked it away by which time the bins had been collected 🙄. Gutted as it some amazing photos I hadn’t downloaded...

5makes9 Flowers. That must have been so upsetting.

When I was an insurance inspector I went out to discuss a claim with a lady for her engagement ring. It had originally been her grandmother's so was of huge sentimental value, as well as being worth a fair bit. I had a good chat with her about what had happened, and she went to get the leather gloves she had been wearing. I turned them inside out and there was the ring!
