I still get a cold sweat thinking about a necklace I think I put in my jewellery box and then never saw again.

Or my white gold and diamond ring I took off because it needed repairing and then it feel out of a box and I couldn't find where it had fallen.

And the whole bottle of perfume I must have put in the bin. 🙈

Anyone else as idiotic or forgetful as me?

A ring that belonged to my great grandmother and ds's scan picture. Both lost in house moves.

LongSummerDays · 27/10/2018 09:49

A gold necklace that OH bought me for my 40th birthday. Took it off overnight, popped it in the dressing table and it's never been seen again. Sad

AnyFucker · 27/10/2018 09:53

Return flight tickets

In the days you actually needed the paper ticket

A beautiful baby blanket that my mother knitted for my first baby. She was not a prolific knitter and it took her a good deal of time and effort (a fancy sort of scallop knit) and was made of really soft warm wool. I loved it and it had huge sentimental value to me after my mum passed away. But it disappeared. I think it got accidentally put in a bag of charity shop things. I'll always regret losing it.

I gave exBIL a black bag of first size baby clothes for their little one including DS1s first outfit (mistake!). He then asked me for them again a few weeks later and I said er, I've already given you them??of course he'd dumped them in the tip with a load of other rubbish

ChiaraRimini · 27/10/2018 10:20

The lesson from this thread is never put anything except rubbish in black bags!!

I bought a pair of quite expensive shoes for DD while visiting the in laws in America. I discarded all the packaging when we packed, back home I could only find one shoe, I think I must have thrown the other one out with the box. I could never quite bring myself to throw away the other one though because it seemed so wasteful, even though it was useless. I think I’ve still got it somewhere.

Mancbear88 · 27/10/2018 10:41

Marriage certificate 🙈

Dollykitten · 27/10/2018 22:34

I seem to spend a lot of time going through the bins! I'm always looking for cheques, important paperwork etc that I throw out by mistake!
I also lost my marriage certificate it it was quite easy to get that replaced.

Harrykanesrightsock · 27/10/2018 22:37

An uncle (very comfortable money wise) used to store large sums of cash around the house without telling Aunt where it was hidden. He had hidden £15K in the pocket of an old coat in the wardrobe and aunt had a clear out and threw it away, he worked in Asia and by the time he came home and realised the coat was gone it was too late to do anything about it Shock He lost so much money by hiding it in ridiculous places and never learnt Confused

I've a terrible memory and have thrown away more than I can remember, last item I think was a new bottle of my perfume (Narcissso Rodriguez) by mistaking it for the old one Sad

Mmmmdanone · 28/10/2018 09:00

I threw away 3 bags of Christmas shopping one year. I was tidying my flat and must have scooped up the carrier bags full of new items and thrown them away. I only realised after the bins has been collected. I was gutted!

susurration · 28/10/2018 10:12

The spare key for my car has mysteriously disappeared. I think it was in the pocket of a bag that broke shortly after I bought it and I took back to the shop for a replacement. My husband was less than impressed when I told him.

Babybearsporij · 28/10/2018 10:27

A cheque, which was a reward for finding a stolen bank card that a thief tried to use at my till. It was £50, which was a lot of money for a 17 year old! I think I posted it with some letters, but of course Royal Mail never found it.

Shmithecat · 28/10/2018 10:33
