My ds goes to bed at 8.30, asleep by 9.00. Fri or Sat nights/school hols it could be 9.00-10.30.
Is this about right?

My 1 and 6 year old go to bed 7:45 asleep for 8. My DP's DC are 10&12. They go up at 9:30 asleep by 10, non school days they can be up anytime until about 11:30.

dementedpixie · 26/10/2018 20:53

School days aren't much earlier tbh. Gets up at 7am during the week

My DS is slightly older at 13.
School nights is bed at 9 with lights off at 9.30pm.
He has to be up at 6.30 for school.
Weekends and holidays is around 10-10.30pm lights off.
He rarely sleeps past 7am no matter what time he goes to bed.

Glossymare · 26/10/2018 20:55

I feel as though it might be too early. ALL Grin his friends stay up way later. But, he does fall asleep almost instantly and struggles to get up in the morning.

School nights tens to be 9pm in bed to read, lights out 9.30pm and weekends maybe a half hour extra, unless there's a special event.

When i was 12 i was in bed by 8:45. I always thought it was too early. Now as a secondary teacher i can tell those students apart who have decent, regular, and enforced bedtimes from those who are up until all hours! I think lights out by 9:30 is definitely late enough.

Ds is 12 and goes to bed at 9ish in the week, 9.30-10 at the weekend. He always reads for at least half an hour though and in bizarre preteen boy logic tends to wake up earlier at the weekend and has to be dragged out of bed on a school day.

My dc times were like pop tarts. From around the age of two I went to bed at 10pm. No matter what my parents tried I just couldn't fall asleep until then. They even took me to the doctors who said if that is my natural time to keep me up until then! My brother was in bed by 7.30 at 8!
