DP had a 2 hour meeting today in Europe.
Dropped him off at airport at 6.30 am this morning.
Many many delays at he is now due to land at 9pm so we’ll be home at 10ish.
I’m knackered.
Worked all day
Shifted 2 trailer loads of logs
Kids shitty
Dinner postponed (binned) due to delays
Gagging for a glass of wine
Can’t light fire because have to pick up

Feeling exhausted & not fancying the motorway

Cheer me up with your lush Friday evening

Can he not get a taxi?

wishTheFireWasAlight · 26/10/2018 20:18

I’ve just suggested... he’ll get the message on landing

Why do people always say get a taxi? I just checked and a fare to my local airport is £120.

Sympathies OP, not much fun.

defectiveinspector · 26/10/2018 20:20

I'm off to the pub. In the Lakes with family, just had two portions of rice pudding and ready for beer. Will.leave teenagers and grandparents at home whilst DP, her Disis & DBil and me slope off. Hope you get to have a much better Saturday night OP.

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 20:21

Erm, because not everyone lives the exact same distance from an airport - £25 to mine Confused

littlemisssunshine81 · 26/10/2018 20:25

My sympathies OP I hope your weekend improves! Nothing exciting here, DH trying to get DS1 to sleep, DS2 sparko and I’m sat here with sleeping baby waiting for takeaway curry to arrive!

mamaduckbone · 26/10/2018 20:25

I’ve dropped a slightly teary ds2 at cubcamp. Ds1 was grumpy about having to come as dh is away, so I’ve bought his good humour by letting him go on the PlayStation.

I now have wine, chocolate and I’m watching catch up TV on the iPad.

Sympathies at having to turn out OP - Friday nights are not for that.

huggybear · 26/10/2018 20:30

Exactly my point...

hodgeheg92 · 26/10/2018 20:32

I was meant to be having an incredibly rare evening to myself as DH is at the pub. I'd bought wine and nice chocolate to eat in the bath, having been so good with my food all day to allow for it. DD has been fighting sleep for 2 hours now, I've just had to do a full bedding change because DH still (10 months in) doesn't pull the frill out of the nappy and the poo had leaked out.

I love being a mum but gosh I hate it so much sometimes too.

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 20:42

Hence why it was a question - can he not get a taxi if it was too far/expensive then the answer would've been just that
Confused

HettySunshine · 26/10/2018 20:46

I'm sat next to a wide awake 2 1/2 year old how is refusing to go to sleep and have a 5 year old downstairs who won't go to be before sister.

Hope your weekend improves op.

Glossymare · 26/10/2018 20:52

I’ve run out of Prosecco (just had the last glass from a bottle opened a few days ago). So it’s my first and last glass of the night. I want another glass. I also forgot to pick up cat food today. So, I have an angry cat shouting at me.

BifsWif · 26/10/2018 20:57

Sat in our local micropub with the fire on and a gin in hand. Tis lovely and cosy!

Hope you’re home and settled soon OP.

sprinkleofsunshine · 26/10/2018 21:05

I'm in hospital so would prefer yours op, hoping I can go home in the next hour with dh who has been sat with me all day but I don't know

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 26/10/2018 21:10

Wish I was at the pub in the lakes

Stupomax · 26/10/2018 22:23

Sorry you've had a shitty evening OP. My DH is also trying to get home from a faraway meeting.

I'm 5 hours behind you so I'm about to try to drive home with DD from gymnastics but the freeway is closed so it's going to be an interesting journey. We're going to eat steak tips, I'm going to drink bacardi, then we're going to a friend's to eat home made apple donuts and sit round a fire.

I've told DH he can make his own way home from his business trip and his boss can pay for the taxi.

Jamct23 · 26/10/2018 22:30

Not much fun here either 3 year old has sickness bug she’s slept most of the day so now we are lay in bed watching shreck Hmm It’s about to be a long night!

PinkHeart5914 · 26/10/2018 22:32

Thing is, the delays can’t be helped so it’s not like his been living it up having the time of his life is it now?

Not nice for you but life has a way of being crap sometimes, hope your almost home with wine in hand now lovely Wine

Wheelerdeeler · 26/10/2018 22:33

Wouldn't his work cover his transport to and from airport?

Eatmycheese · 26/10/2018 22:37

About to collapse into bed.
Our youngest is at Grandma’s tonight so I can get some sleep as due to teething and reluctance to be weaned from even one of six breastfeeds during the night I am dying from lack of sleep.
The other two mini humans are currently asleep.
I’ve had a bath, a gin and some orange matchmakers. Giddy with excitement!

KokoLoko · 26/10/2018 22:39

I’ve been working with a charity to open a new shop in the area, it’s taken since January last year to get where we are now (all set up, just need to sort out stock and put in the last of the fittings). Found out tonight that the charity have appointed someone else as manager, which was my job. I don’t know where I stand now but right now I’m fighting the urge to email the charity asking wtf??! Instead I’m downing wine and wondering what to do instead that would fit around the kids

Amaaboutthis · 26/10/2018 22:39

Surely if he has been away for work they cover his travel costs?

LuvMyBoyz · 26/10/2018 22:48

@KokoLoko

How rubbish for you. Please leave dealing with this for the morning when you will be thinking more clearly.

Eatmycheese · 27/10/2018 09:21

Jesus I just re read my original post and emitted a hollow laugh.

Minutes after this mini human two woke up.i then spent three hours post bath and orange matchmakers clinging on for dear life in her bed with her intermittently crying or sleeping like a starfish. I wake up after a hour of broken kip to find I'd started my period and had to move her out of the bed at stupid o clock and strip the sheets, she came in the main bed with us.
So my night got a lot worse.
Meanwhile the baby slept through at Grandma's.
The garage called me today just now and said my MOT can't be done on Monday (they booked it in for Friday)
I've got toothache
I left four bath mats on the line and several pairs of jeans that I forget about last night and it's now snowing here.

@wishTheFireWasAlight do hope your night improved and your day is better today.
Can I rename your post Saturday morning and I've already had enough today (is it too early for gin)
