Anyone from Richmond/North Yorkshire?

Hello, we're thinking of moving to the area around Richmond. DH is from Darlington area and I'm from the South.

Our DC are school age, with one in secondary school. Not being able to get them into a good school worries me as they all seem to be oversubscribed!

Does anyone know what Francis Xavier school is like?

Thanks Flowers

SFX gets an excellent reputation locally but, as you might expect, there is high competition for places. You'll need to produce a baptism certificate, and possibly demonstrate some regular church-going.
Have you considered Richmond secondary? Also a fantastic school!

I used to live there as a teen. Didn't appreciate it'll at the time but I had such a brilliant childhood there and SFX was a great school. The uniform is a blazer tie and shirt, very smart. You're so close to all the beautiful countryside and Asygarth Falls, Hawes, Wensleydale, Leyburn, Masham, etc. Richmond itself has a good array of shops, parks, eateries etc. Beautiful river. Would highly recommend

Thanks guys, yes would absolutely consider Richmond too, I think that’s oversubscribed as well though! We are ( somewhat lapsed) catholic’s, but DD’s best subjects are drama and Spanish and they don’t do either of these so it’s a muddle!

Is there easy access to bigger towns etc for teens?
