Touching your stomach when pregnant

I've never been pregnant never will be. I've been seeing lots of photos of the Meghan Markle touching/holding her stomach. I asked my Dsis who did this alot when pregnant herself why she did it. She said it was to show off she was having a baby. I thought it was because you could feel the baby move but Dsis said you don't feel the baby move until about 5 months. Apparently Meghan isn't that far along. She could be though for all we know.

Can I ask if you did similar and why you did it?

(This is a genuine question, not a get at Meghan thread) TIA

Sometimes it's just to emphasise that you are actually pregnant, not just fat I remember doing it a lot when I was heavily pregnant on the bus in the hope that someone would notice and offer me a seat but I think lots of people do it when they have a less-obvious bump if they are a bit self-conscious.

Mainly though, it's to connect with your baby and wonder at the miracle of life in your tummy!

And yes, I know it's your womb, pedants!

There was meant to be a full stop in there after fat. and a new paragraph

Please remember though. The news and the papers will only show u what they want u to see. They make it seem like she is doing this all the time. But they can take 59 pictures in a few secs and that’s all we see. I have no doubt she is not constantly doing this.

I loved being pregnant and enjoyed every moment with my two, stroking and touching my growing bump for me was part of the bonding. But I agree with others it’s instinct you often aren’t aware you are doing it at all.
