I'm looking at seed beads on ebay. The listing says size 6/0...how big is that? I neee to order several colours, all in the same sizes.

3.7mm according to Google

6/0 are larger seed beads. The most common to work with are 11/0 which are smaller. You also get 8/0 which are in between, and 15/0 which are tiny. They're the most common sizes.
Different makes do vary slightly in sizes. The best makes for consistency are Miyuki and Toho (but annoyingly are slightly different to each other). They are also the best quality hands down.

That's really helpful, thank-you @confusedandemployed! I will google both makes now. I think I might need smaller ones actually.

No problem! Finally a topic on MN where I'm a proper expert!
One last thing - don't mix 'round' seed beads with 'delicas' because they're a different Shap. Delicas are cylindrical and brilliant for working flat pieces of beadwork, but less good for embellishing things, or making 3d pieces.
