What is _ for?

Been puzzling for ages. Why, in the talk list is Chat prefixed by an underscore. ie. _Chat?

So it appears at the top of the list (I think).

I thought it was so it appeared at the bottom of the list? Think when Chat was first introduced posters were concerned the other topics wouldn't be used as much and people would go directly to Chat. So the underscore was to discourage that.

So it appears at the bottom of the list - it's a techy 'sort command'!
