In my house it's about a week...what do you do?

A week unless something else comes along to take their place.

Fantasisa · 25/10/2018 19:41

One week and then they get recycled

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 25/10/2018 19:41

A week here too.

DisneyDayOut · 25/10/2018 19:42

My kids have birthdays 2 days apart so they both just stay up for 2 days or it wouldn't be fair. They can put them up in their rooms after that. Suits me anyway because i can't bear clutter...

formerbabe · 25/10/2018 19:42

If it's my birthday, I open the cards then put them straight in the bin. I see no point in putting them up.

Quickerthanavicar · 25/10/2018 19:48

about a week, but always have Get Well Soon cards up then I people come round and the place is a tip, they think I've been ill.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/10/2018 19:48

Just tell people not to waste their money formerbabe Confused

Crunchymum · 25/10/2018 20:13

For the kids we do roughly until recycling day. Unless birthday is just before recycling day (then we do until the following recycling day!)

For us we may have them up for a day or so.

This year may be different and the baby will turn 1 a few days before dc2's Birthday so we may have a faster turnaround.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 25/10/2018 20:24

I put them up for a week. But I'd rather just get rid to be honest. I keep them up because I know that friends and family would be shocked to know I just binned them although I do that with Christmas cards .

ladypenelopeepee · 25/10/2018 20:27

@formerbabe, you sound like a bundle of joy!

Mainchanger · 25/10/2018 20:28

A week here too.

3out · 25/10/2018 20:30

I’ve just taken down DD’s cards. Her birthday is in April 😂

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/10/2018 20:30

A week. Although Christmas cards have to come down so that DH's birthday cards can go up. His birthday is between Christmas and New Year.

Honeypickle · 25/10/2018 20:30

Two weeks!

JaiNotJay · 25/10/2018 20:32

A couple of weeks, until I have to move them to make way for the Christmas cards. Xmas Smile

Nanasueathome · 25/10/2018 20:33

I’m the eldest of 3
My birthday is 28th, my sister’s is 29th and my brother’s birthday is 31st...all the same month
So when I was younger I could only ever have my cards up for just one day
Now I keep them up for a week

BlameItOnTheBoomBoom · 25/10/2018 20:33

A week here too but am I the only one who then keeps them (in a box on the top shelf of my wardrobe along with their new baby cards) afterwards?!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/10/2018 20:47

When they start to piss me off because noone else can see them

mrspitt · 25/10/2018 20:51

That's so good to hear!!
I think a week is totally reasonable. More than a week...you are busy! Even longer than a week then you've forgotten or can't see them! 😂
My son had a birthday on Monday he took the cards down tonight and I was like nooooooooooo ...you need a week! He said I'm away until Monday so that makes it a week🙈🤷‍♀️

rabbitmat · 25/10/2018 20:52

A week. My Mum told me it was unlucky to keep them up for longer. I realise now that might have been a lie...

Playdoughcaterpillar · 25/10/2018 20:56

OMG a week? Ours stay up a month at least! My “big” birthday ones stayed up 2 months, my cleaner hates it, I’m sure!

Purplejay · 25/10/2018 20:57

About 2 weeks.

GreenDinosaur · 25/10/2018 20:59

A month usually. My birthday cards are still up and they make me happy to look at them I'm lucky people care enough to buy or make me a card.
