7 and 5 year olds. I’m looking for nice happy films for them to watch with no baddies or bad things happening.
Have tried a few but they tend to get scared.
Any suggestions please??

Been wracking my brains all morning for this thread.

Probably more for your 7yo, but you might find the more live action sort of pre teen films actually have much less in the way of baddies and perils - thinking things like Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Wild Child, Babysitters Club. You’d need to double check the sort of themes they cover (Common Sense media is good for that), but they’re far less about goodies v baddies.

Also High School Musical, The Princess Diaries, Heidi, School of Rock.

Agree about the unnecessary peril! The new swallows and amazons is completely ruined by a spy plot that has adults pulling guns on each other! The whole thing that is magical about swallows and amazons is how the children create so much adventure with imagination - why do the Hollywood big wigs think that’s not enough any more? X

Little mole by Zdenek Miler.
Very innocent short films with no baddies, almost no talking and beautifully animated.
Very suitable for children 3+.

Song of the Sea? It's gorgeous, but made us (parents) howl for ages Sad
My children have sung the music over and over since watching it though Smile
Makka and her owls are pretty scary too!

My DD was very sensitive but did grow out of it (mostly) but we did leave cinemas early a few times (Up for one) she particularly hated things that changed, so Alice in Wonderland was out, as was the Curse of the Wererabbit (Wallace & Gromit)

I was thinking about Song of the Sea - it's absolutely beautiful but so so sad (although I think it made me cry more than the DC).. are they okay with sad and beautiful? Totoro is a little bit sad too, Kiki is wonderful..

There was a Moomin one a few years back - Moomins on the Riviera? - I don't think there were any baddies and the only peril was from them overspending and annoying the hoteliers (from what I remember)

Homeward Bound doesn’t have any baddies, but the animals do get in to some dangerous situations.

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 1 and 2.

I'm so with you on this- we had to leave the cinema during the my little pony movie! She loves the Shaun the sheep movie- the upbeat music throughout really helps. She also loves the fireman Sam movies (especially Alien Alert) but yours might be too old for them

Laura's Star

DD5 reacts strongly to baddies and mild peril so this thread is excellent.

Her favourites are Secret Life of Pets and Sing.

Beamur · 26/10/2018 22:17

I love Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, but it nearly rendered my almost vegetarian child unwilling to eat vegetables! (The veg are too cute)

maamalady · 26/10/2018 22:18

"Shaun the Sheep Movie" is wonderful. No baddies, no speech, only very mild peril, and a great deal of visual gags. I love it, my kids (4 and 2) love it. I'm sure it would be fine for sensitive kids.

maamalady · 26/10/2018 22:19

Oh, and Winnie the Pooh?

JosephineHass · 26/10/2018 23:57

I love the beginning of Secret life of pets, but then when that rabbit come to the scene it just degenerate into something weird, he feels so manic and insane, I just don't like it...
The whole movie just turning to the different level.🤷🏻‍♀️

Skippy the bush kangaroo
Pippi Longstocking

I think The Rugrats Movie might be ok (Not Rugrats in Paris though).
