Has anyone read this man's poetry? I recently discovered him on Instagram, and it's so clever and readable. He seems to be the Banksy of the poetry world, no evidence of who he actually is, but his work is brilliant!

Yes he's a treat to read, I tip my hat to him.

Wallabyone · 25/10/2018 16:48

I haven't read much poetry since my university days, but love Carol Ann Duffy; his work sort of reminds me of hers. Would recommend!

Yes, I am a big fan too. I love how most of his stuff is witty and light, but every so often he sneaks a moving or thought-provoking one in - like Refugees or the one the other day about the old lady dancing in her kitchen. He's very very clever.

PersonaNonGarter · 25/10/2018 18:13

Yes.

There’s a village is Scotland called Bilston and often I wonder if that inspires and informs his art.

Another fan here. Would love to know who he is.

Wallabyone · 25/10/2018 20:08

Yes, Refugees was particularly clever and thought-provoking. I wonder if he has another day job, being a secret poet can't bring in a high income!

Yes! I follow him on twitter and send his poems to DD all the time. I’m going to buy his book.
I loved his Halloween/Brexit one this week and the Excel one.

AgentProvocateur · 25/10/2018 20:12

Yes, I love his poems. Very clever.

SwaylorTift · 25/10/2018 20:13

The excel one was so good

BikeRunSki · 25/10/2018 20:17

I follow him in FB, he’s very clever, cutting and imaginative. I love it when he plays with the physical shapes of the words too.

Thank you so much for this thread @Wallabyone. I don't do Twitter so this man had passed me by.
However I am now madly in love, and have treated myself to his book (as a reward for stopping smoking, for a week so far)

Wallabyone · 25/10/2018 21:06

Ah, I'm glad you like his work too! Congrats on quitting; what an achievement.
I think I will buy the book too Smile

Yes, love his work.

First came across him when "America is a Gun" was in the news. It was a response to Jeb Bush's tweet on the theme of showing an image to sum up one's country.

PerkingFaintly · 25/10/2018 21:19

Oh, a new book in June 2019, sez he...

MrsTommyBanks · 25/10/2018 21:20

Thank you Smile I'm ridiculous my proud of myself lol.
I had a very strong emotional response to America is a gun.

PrivateParkin · 25/10/2018 21:30

Yes! I love him as well.

longtompot · 25/10/2018 21:45

I follow him on facebook and just love his way with words. Not just the poem content, but how he sets them out. I didn't know he was on insta so shall look him out there too.

thisshitgotreal · 25/10/2018 21:52

I know Brian!

He is brilliant isn't he

BestIsWest · 26/10/2018 11:38

I’ve just ordered 3 copies of his book as presents for people for Christmas.

BestIsWest · 26/10/2018 11:39

Hang on, ThisShit you know him? The real Brian?

thisshitgotreal · 26/10/2018 13:57

Yep! The one and only! He's just a regular guy in real life - he's very nice.

I feel like I shouldn't say much more since others likened him to banksy don't want to spoil the mystique!

PerkingFaintly · 26/10/2018 14:24
Shock
PerkingFaintly · 26/10/2018 14:25

Quite agree, don't say anything to endanger his anonymity no matter how nosy I am.

Wallabyone · 26/10/2018 15:30

I just want to know, does he have a normal other job; is he a poetry-writing plumber, for example?
