Best way to travel Manchester to Chelmsford?

Hi
Sorry for boring enquiry but I'm feeling stressed and flustered. I have to travel soon from Manchester to Chelmsford for a funeral. I don't drive so I'll have to use public transport. Preferably coach but train is fine too. What is the best route anyone can suggest?

Google maps is really useful - put your start and end point in, choose the “transit” option (the train like symbol), and you can then go to “options” to select bus, which brings up coaches too. You can put in the date/time you need to leave and it does the rest.

I'm not 100% but you should be able to get a train from Manchester to Liverpool Street, there is then a regular train from Liverpool Street to Chelmsford.

Trains from Manchester come in to London Euston (possibly also Kings Cross) and then you'd need to take the tube to Liverpool Street.

National Express do a coach, you would still need to change in London (Piccadilly ) though. The national express route finder on the website is really helpful actually.

Thank you 60s - that was the bit I wasn't 100% on Grin

Trainline is good at plotting train journeys

If you won't have much luggage, I'd walk from Euston mainline to Euston Square tube (it's an easy 5 min walk). Then it's a straightforward tube journey to Liverpool Street. The train to Chelmsford is about 30 - 40 mins from there.

Train via Euston and Liverpool Street is the best way as others have recommended.

I hope the funeral is a fitting way to remember the deceased and celebrate their life.
