If you cosleep how did you manage when you had another DC

DD cosleeps with us (she is 18 months) we are thinking of trying for DC2 soon but I'm concerned logistically how it will work. Obviously I don't want DD getting a rubbish nights sleep with the new baby. But I can't see her sleeping on her own yet.
Just wondered if anyone been in this position? What did you do?

DS used to always start the night in his own bed, but wander through at some point in the night. He was like a ninja- didn’t make a sound, you would just wake up with him there. He actually stopped coming through for a while when DS2 was born, but once he started again, DH would go to his bed with him and I’d stay with the baby.

Like Thistles, my eldest started the night in his own bed then came into ours when he wanted to.

Got a side cot for the baby so we could all fit in the bed! She didn't actually sleep in it a huge amount after the first few weeks, but it meant she could go on the outside of me, right up to the edge of the bed as there was nowhere to fall off to, IYSWIM - if she went "off" the bed she'd just be in the cot.

A friend of ours passed on an awesome fire engine shaped bed for our toddler which he loved, I think that helped the move. Not saying go out and buy a fire engine bed! But making a big fuss about his new room and his new cool bed helped.

Alternatively you could try to fit them all in, and get your DD to bed first - see how she sleeps with the baby in the same room. It might be OK.
