Whats a synonym for Westernised?!

Hi, I'm trying to write an essay and my mind has gone blank and google is not helping.

Im trying to say that some psychological theories are Western focussed and they don't account for other cultures. I'm sure there is one word for this, I was thinking Eurocentric....?

first-world?

You don't want a synonym for Westernised, surely? To me 'Westernised' means a person or a practice that's adapted to suit people in places like England or France (I am trying to avoid saying 'the West' because it's all relative. I would be cautious about it in an academic essay). So you'd talk about Chinese food being Westernised so that my mum in Nottingham doesn't make a fuss about too much Sichuan pepper.

Do you mean that sort of thing? Or do you mean they're exclusionary? I think if the latter I'd say 'exclude perspectives from [countries/areas you're concerned about]'. Somehow 'eurocentric' sounds funny to me in a way anglocentric wouldn't.

I mean, Eurocentric sort of makes sense, but is it actually Eurocentric or would you find similar theories circulating in and about the US, too? It's not my subject, but I just wondered.

Thank you everyone, trying to get to grips with academic writing!

What I am trying to say is that some theories are based on Western views and norms, they are not globally exclusive....maybe thats the word...globally exclusive!

Wouldn’t it be they are not globally inclusive?

You could also just say they are based on Western culture, that would read fine in an academic essay to me
