Literally one tiny milky sick when he was about 4 weeks old and he’s 7yrs now. Hid friends at school are always getting tummy bugs but so far not one. I’m not a sickly person either can’t remember having a bug since teenage years (20 years ago) is this normal!?

My ds was like this for ages. He's ten now and has only ever had one stomach bug that involved vomiting. He was occasionally sick from too much cake combined with jumping around, but has managed to swerve lots of sickness bugs!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 24/10/2018 10:25

What's his blood group? DM was AB+, and didn't get digestive illnesses of any sort. It's a genetic thing.

Woohoo1 · 24/10/2018 10:26

We are both A-

That is so interesting...never heard that before!

Woohoo1 · 24/10/2018 10:28

He spend a lot on time on his grandparents farm was young! Maybe rolling in the muck boosted his immunity (which is incredible for a 2.5oz 29 weeker)

My 2 DD's have only ever had 1 tummy bug, they're now 14 & 11, born 2lb 13oz at 33 weeks, and 1lb 10oz at 27 weeks. Being preemies, I expected them to be quite sickly babies, but (touch wood) they've been fairly healthy!! I'm so glad, as I am terrified of sick Blush

Woohoo1 · 24/10/2018 10:32

Thank you all.

I haven’t ever been sick since a baby. I’m 53 now and had a child. My DF hasn’t ever been sick either.

TooOooOnaStubbs · 24/10/2018 10:33

Aye, our wean (7) drinks water from a borehole, feeds the sheep, and eats berries, apples etc off the plant. Can only mind him throwing up once.

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes · 24/10/2018 10:36

My grandson is the same. He's only been sick once, so surprised and shocked him that the poor little mite tried to hold it in with his hands, as he didn't know what it was. He still talks about it now!

TheMythicalChicken · 24/10/2018 10:36

Mine are never ill. I can’t ever recall either of them having time off school for illness. We eat a plant-based diet though (no meat, fish or dairy) and I think that helps.

thaegumathteth · 24/10/2018 10:38

Ds was like this. Sadly his little sister has more than made up for it!

Escolar · 24/10/2018 10:39

I have three DC, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the total number of times they have been sick.

I'm rarely ill either except when I drink too much Blush

Woohoo1 · 24/10/2018 10:41

He gets nasty colds though, and was very poorly when he had chicken pox so he’s not dodged all Illness! Just the sick

florafawna · 24/10/2018 10:42

Same until autoimmune disease!

puppymouse · 24/10/2018 11:07

DD is 5 next week. She's had one sickness bug and one bout of diarrhea so far. I don't want to jinx anything but she seems to fend stuff off - even colds.

MnerXX · 24/10/2018 11:13

DS is fairly robust - 7y. Doesn’t often have a cold, and has only vomited once. He has had chicken pox and had diarrhoea a few times but that’s about it.

Teacherlikemisstrunchball · 24/10/2018 11:40

I do think kids (and grown ups) are very susceptible to different things. I have asthma and can guarantee getting one chest infection per year, that usually coincides with a busy spell at work and being run down. Dh has never had a chest infection but will catch sickness bugs. Ds has only had two sickness bugs ever and is nearly 7 and neither DH or I caught them and I’ve only been sick three times in the last 20 years. My DSIS and her family are always getting sickness bugs and the other side of the family always get horrid colds that they can’t shift for weeks.

Juanbablo · 24/10/2018 11:43

I very rarely ever get sick, same with ds1. Dh and dd get at least one sickness bug a year. Ds2...not sure about him yet.

SweetheartNeckline · 24/10/2018 11:45

I was sick from a migraine about 2 years ago, before that it was in 2011 from morning sickness (the only time I was sick through 4 pregnancies). Was literally never sick through booze either even as a student. I did have norovirus in 2007. Otoh DH is usually off sick once or twice each winter with D&V.

Some people just aren't sicky; I'm very prone to eye infections though.

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 24/10/2018 12:23

My son is the same however he does get cold after cold in the winter, yet I get a sickness bug once per year and at least 4 horrible colds.

dontknowwhattodo80 · 24/10/2018 12:25

We're not a stomach bug family either, DS1 and I are prone to chest infections ( asthmatics) and DH and DS2 occasionally get throat infections

Oblomov18 · 24/10/2018 12:26

My two are teenagers and have never been sick. Not once.
And never ill. Normally both 100% attendance.
I have no idea why this is. Pure luck I guess.

Tomboytown · 24/10/2018 12:32

same
But don’t want to jinx it!

AnotherPidgey · 24/10/2018 12:33

DS hadn't until last year when he was nearly 7. There was a sickness bug through the hotel which we didn't realise until I went down with it 24 hours after his random vomit. On the transfer back to the airport, there was lots of talk about sickness. There was another incident later in the school year.

DS2 hasn't been sick. He was off colour when DS1 was sick but didn't actually bring it up whereas DS1 went back to normality minutes afterwards. I do follow the 48hr rule but they are the kind of kids that make you feel like your being cheeky for keeping them off.

There were a lot of bugs sweeping through his class last year until quite late into the spring.
