Where would you buy a new bed from?

My Ikea KS bed is on its last legs so I need to think about saving up for a new bed. I definitely don't want an Ikea bed again as we've had to reinforce the slats on our current one numerous times.

I feel a bit clueless on this as a bed is something you buy so infrequently! Our requirements are:-

  • Budget inc. mattress £1k or thereabouts
  • King size (I know this will be smaller than Ikea (European) KS, but we don't have enough room for a SKS)
  • Solid wood if possible

I am so uncomfortable every morning now and feel about 82 when I get up as my current mattress has a dip in my side (& DH's) and it's not firm enough. My lower back is sore every morning and I need to plan to replace our current bed.

So, where would you buy a bed from with the above requirements?

Watching here as after the sad demise of Warren Evans (rip) I have no idea where to go when I need replacements. They were my ‘goto’ for decades.

I'm in the same position, same budget, and we've been looking at John lewis/Made.com/Swoon

We bought a bed frame from a local wood furniture manufacturer along with triple wardrobe and two bedside cabinets - just bought the mattress from mattress shop - which we bought an orthopaedic mattress which is too hard to sleep on really hit mattress topped is amazing memory foam about 5 inches deep - lovely night sleep!!

I absolutely love my bed. It's solid wood and is very similar to one that Habitat do.
I've linked to the double but it also comes in King and as an ottoman.

Oh and I've had it for four years now. The slats haven't moved and it hasn't sagged (I had that problem with an ikea bed too OP).

I asked similar on my local FB page and someone mentioned QD did good quality beds. I was pretty dubious but had a look and got a solid wood kingsize bed from them. The cheapest I'd found of the style I wanted and solid wood.
