Why are earth would I not be interviewed for this post?

I am a nurse, been out a few years, did RTP.
I was a skilled senior nurse before my time out raising kids.
I recently applied for a staff nurse band 5 post in a private hospital. They were advertising for wards, OPs, theatre and recovery. I have experience in most of these areas.
I didn’t even get offered an interview?!
Is it ok to ring and ask why? I’m an excellent nurse, if I say so myself, and always do well at interviews ( I have never failed to get any job i applied for).
I’m flabbergasted that nurses are in such short supply and yet they wouldn’t even interview me. Sorry if that sounds big headed, I don’t mean like I’m so amazing, but why would you not interview a good nurse? And are they obliged to give me a reason?
Thanks.

A lot of nurses are desperate to leave the NHS, my guess is they had tons of applicants (as private was it better hours/ less unsociable working) and they had more applicants than they wanted to interview all with relevant more recent experience.

There will be loads of chance to move on once you've got your teeth back into it again, especially as it sounds like you've got loads to offer.

Also I'm an AHP and don't know if it's the same for nursing but colleagues in the private sector say the opportunity for training and mentoring isn't as good as it is in the NHS.

Thanks for coming back to the NHS!

NHS was my first choice.

Did they ask your salary expectations?

Definitely not obliged to interview you. I used to be in charge of recruitment for my team . We'd regularly get 100+ applications with at least a third meeting all the essential criteria. We could only ever interview 8.
