Interesting first post, OP!

My very first query was about step parenting when i was in a relationship at the time with someone with a child from a previous rel. I didn't post but liked to read about all the potential pit falls and suggestions of how to approach that situation. I then got sucked in to the chatter on Active Conversations and have been here ever since, about 10 or so years now.

What first brought you to these murky waters?

Years ago when I was expecting my first child, so over 10 years ago, I was looking for somewhere to chat to other expectant mums.

Originally it was Ellaroos 'rivers of sweetcorn' that had been a suggestion for 'what's good on the net' from Yahoo. I stayed for about 9 months, then flounced after a (well deserved) kicking. That was 2004 I think.

She who must not be named and rockets to Lebanon bought me back (2006?) and I've been here ever since.

SilentBob · 23/10/2018 19:04

I think it was something to do with a leg and a tattoo?

Yoghurty · 23/10/2018 19:10

It was about 2010/11? I had a very emotional family situation that I couldn't process at the time, and came here for support. I was lucky, because if that had been my first post nowadays, I'd have been accused of being a troll! And I think I posted in AIBU

Had a mixed response, but it was all helpful in taking the first step to figuring things out, and I never left!

Another penis breaker Blush

I was on a wedding forum and everybody talked about how scary mumsnet was, then I came across penis beaker and stayed since... I much prefer the (mostly) honest and intelligent conversation!

At my wits end over DS2 - it was comforting to know I wasn’t alone and gave me some hope! Some also give a good viewpoint and one I hadn’t thought of. Also some posts make me laugh!

LaconicIcon · 23/10/2018 19:22

Someone posted links to several funny threads on the weight watchers board, the only one I can remember was about using sudocrem as a primer.

imnotalpharius · 23/10/2018 19:28

Another ex bounty debater, it's been a while since that place ranked.

newestbridearound · 23/10/2018 19:33

I signed up on honeymoon when we had started talking about ttc. This was years ago and I’ve since discovered that kids aren’t possible for me, but I’ve stayed because I enjoy the variety of topics discussed and the health and relationship advice has been invaluable.

AhhhhThatsBass · 23/10/2018 19:34

Any chance you can add the link for the threads that prompted you tfor join? Some sound very funny. (Nanny and pastagate for example)

I joined not long into my pregnancy. The x month baby bus. Which then because a Facebook group of maybe 50 women. Then I got unceremoniously turfed out for not contributing enough. Now I only ever read AIBU. (Not sure how I found my way to chat tonight)

Crunchymum · 23/10/2018 19:37

MN used to get a bad rap on another forum I used to go on.

Came over to see what all the fuss was about and never went back to the other forum Grin

DianaBlythe · 23/10/2018 19:40

I was actually googling some stuff about Anne of Green Gables and it came up!

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 23/10/2018 19:41

Google brought me here, probably something to do with health/googling symptoms.

I have never read penis beaker

LynetteScavo · 23/10/2018 20:04

I Googled "school refusing" when DS1 was 7yo and I couldn't get him into school. I was desperate, and I'd never heard of MN before. My first post was me starting a thread, and I got such kind responses.

DS1 is now 19, at university, and doesn't much want to come home. Grin

(For what it's worth, I moved him from the school he was in, and he was much, much happier. Smile)
