I've arranged for people to come round on Friday but I'm being sent away by work and won't get back till Friday. Will have about 2 hours from when I get in till they arrive. no fish or other seafood

So what can I buy tonight and make and then either keep or freeze for a starter and dessert? Bonus points if the dessert includes blackcurrants.

I've made and frozen a beef bourgignon (sp) and I'm going to make potato boulangere tonight and freeze that.

Cheesecake?

You could make a soup for a starter and freeze. Once thawed you could add some croutons and cream ? For desert you could make profiteroles, you can freeze them apparently and when thawed add your chocolate sauce to them.

Buy (from M&S Food on way back from work trip)

deli meats, marinated artichokes, dips, jarred roasted red peppers, etc and nice bread, plus ready made blackcurrant sorbet & a ready made vanilla cheesecake, plus cheese & biscuits & grapes.
