I’m on 100mg of lamotrigine and I feel worse?

Started 100mg after going from 25,50 to now. Iv been on 6 days now and I don’t feel any better. In fact my emotions are all over the place. I’m snapping and being nasty to my partner and I’m taking everything to heart and crying over everything!
Is this normal? X

Yes - it made DD either very hyper or depressed! Also gives you lots of colds!

These types of drugs tend to affect mood among other things!

Some psychiatric side effects of Lamotrigine that are rare include mania, irritability, emotional upheaval, depression, confusion, confusion, concentration issues, anxiety, and agitation. Lamotrigine induced mania is usually treated with Topiramate or lithium. Speak to your doctor if you are concerned. The side effects of Lamotrigine are usually quite minimal and usually fade away after some time which is a major advantage for every patient.

I was on Lamotrigine for simple partial seizures. It was horrid. I was snappy, emotional, hated myself and was so depressed. I also got horrific vertigo on it so decided to stop. Taking the seizures instead as they're more tolerable.

I'm on 150mg (2 x lots of 75mg). I've had no side effects at all, although I was warned that there might be some. I seem to recall that I increased the amount over 2 or 3 weeks so maybe your build up was too quick.

However not all medications suit all people. My doctor indicated that my medication could be changed if I didn't get on with it, so if your side effects don't settle soon I suggest you discuss it with your doctor.
