Birth options Glasgow

Hi all, just had my 20 week scan today. All looking good with the baby, but I just did not like the feeling at the hospital. It’s got me thinking about other options as I really wouldn’t be keen on staying in and would want to get home with my partner and the baby asap, all going well with the birth. Does anyone have any advice / experience with birth info in regards to a midwife led unit for first time mums. Thanks

Glasgow NHS seems to have a pretty good website. It's good to find out a your local facilities but try to keep an open mind. Birth plans can become somewhat flexible as you'll need to go with what your baby needs ultimately. I would have liked 2 home births but I didn't end up with them! I did end up with 2 healthy babies though.

Following. Not currently pregnant and had my first at qeuh. Afaik there aren't really any choices in Glasgow. You can't go private and I don't think there are any mlu's

Paisley has an MLU you can access if you live in Glasgow (and are on the green pathway/midwife led etc.)

I’ve heard good things about it too.

I’ve been reading up more on it and am quite keen to find out more about the birthing centre at paisley. Only issue is we are about 13 miles from there and not sure how strict they will be on distance from home etc

I am ten miles away and had both my kids there. Should have been QEUH for both but was put off by it always being so busy. Didn’t have either in midwife led unit though although that was the initial plan for both.

I know wishaw also have a midwife led unit if that’s closer for you.
