Gift ideas for my friend who is 49. (Budget up to £40)

It's my friend's birthday in a few weeks and I'm really stumped for ideas.

We've been friends for 40 years so that's a lot of gifts over the years and I've run out of ideas.

So I'm trying to find something thoughtful and unusual that she'll enjoy.

So if you can recommend something I'd be really grateful.

Budget up to £40. (Up to £50 if really really special)

Thanks

A lovely Jo Malone candle? Or a cashmere scarf. You can never have too many candles and soft scarves!

What does she like? Make up, perfume, accessories or no interest at all in beauty/fashion? There’s lovely sets out now for Christmas.

Foodie? voucher for a nice restaurant?

She likes everything. That's what's so difficult! LOL

Jo Malone is a good idea though. Will investigate.

Ted Baker Purse

Cashmere Scarf

Jo Malone would be my bet

TeaByTheSeaside · 22/10/2018 16:31

Thanks. We've got L'occitane and Jo Malone in John Lewis so I'll have a browse in there tomorrow.

She's a vegetarian- will she have an issue with cashmere? (I have in the back of my mind it's cruel but may be confusing it with something else).

Chanel compact mirror, around £30 and will be nicely packed in a little Chanel bag in Boots. A nice frivolous gift and maybe a Chanel lipstick with the rest of your budget?

Meandyouandyouandme · 22/10/2018 17:33

Silk pillowcase, £40 in John Lewis, is my current luxury gift for women of any age.

Sali Hughes (beauty author and journalist) says she always gets her friends the smallest thing she can for her budget and that fits with the suggestions above! I got my mum a Philip Kingsley hair treatment one year as she loved a sample she got but would never have spend £30 on a hair product, even though she could afford it.

Guerlain is another lovely luxury brand, their lipsticks have really fancy packaging.

Ive just bought my BF a nomination bracelet with her birthstone and a friends charm. They are on offer atm and you get the bracelet free with £35 in charms.
It's very much her style though.
