What time would you get there?

If you’re meeting a friend at 2:15 who has been very clear that they can’t leave to come meet you until 2pm so 2:15 is the earliest they can do, what time do you aim to arive?

I have this ongoing thing with a friend that I get there at our agreed time and she’s always there already, with a drink (and often what she thinks I’ll want which she charges me for). It makes me feel like
I’m late and even when I aim for 5 mins early she’s there, with a drink.

I’m always early everywhere so I’d be there at 2 and browse my phone or read a book (if she’s not already there) with my drink/snack of choice.

If she’s insisting 2:15 earliest, then as long as you’re there at 2:15 surely that’s fine? If she’s early that’s up to her. If you don’t want what she’s ordered, just say “oh I’m actually going to get.....” and don’t pay her!

Nothing wrong with her being early but knock the drink stuff on the head - just say ‘ooh, I know you’re a bit of an early bird - really sweet of you to get me a drink but I like to decide when I get here, would you mind not buying for me in future?’. She probably just thinks she’s doing you a favour, although she should have checked.

The being early stuff though is her call and you need to get over feeling late. One of you has to be first!

Have you asked your friend not to get you a drink if she gets there before you do? How does she know what you want - not everyone has the same drink every time they go out.

I'd get there when I got there (between 2.10 and 2.20).

It wasn't there and then it was there twice [grr]

I’m the one saying 2:15, she said “I’m coming from home, will get there for 2”

I think it’s not the being there first, it’s the drinks including mine thing that stresses me out. When I met my brother yesterday, I got there first and I just grabbed a table and waited.

I’ve asked her not to order for me (which she’ll stick to this week but then slip back on if previous attempts are anything to go on).
