If you are eating a roast dinner what part do you eat first?

I know this is completely random but it occurred to me earlier that whenever I have a roast dinner I always start by eating the vegetables. Dp will eat some meat first, same as dd. Just wondered if anyone else always eats a particular part first ?

Veg. I like to save the meat to last. As the saying goes - save the best for last

Onesmallstepforaman · 21/10/2018 21:19

Always eat the veg first, as does my daughter. Used to drive my wife mad.

isseywithcats · 21/10/2018 21:19

the roast potatoes with bits of the rest of the dinner (ie a bit of meat a bit of veg a bit of gravy) all scooped in together on my fork

Roasties and Yorkshire pudding first

MaHeidsGouping · 21/10/2018 21:20

I take a bit of each.

Scrumptiousbears · 21/10/2018 21:22

Bit of meat, toastie and Yorkshire

Not had a roast dinner in ages.

LemonScentedStickyBat · 21/10/2018 21:23

A bit of everything/most things in every bite. There is no way I could ever eat things one at a time. I have no idea why I feel so strongly about this!

lolalotta · 21/10/2018 21:23

Veg, lentil roast, yorkie, roasties, roasted parsnips inter dispersed...

skyesayshi · 21/10/2018 21:23

Carrots first, then meat and potatoes, save the Yorkshire for last. Everything must be swimming in gravy.

lolalotta · 21/10/2018 21:24

Gravy on every forkful

TulipsInBloom1 · 21/10/2018 21:24

Meat, broccoli and cauli, roasties, any other veg, yorkie last to mop up the juices.

lolalotta · 21/10/2018 21:24

I want Roast now

MontanaSky · 21/10/2018 21:24

Veg first, then roast potatoes, meat and Yorkshire pudding saved til last

mouse26 · 21/10/2018 21:25

Always start with the veg because I was always told to eat it first as a child and save the best (meat) till last..

waxy1 · 21/10/2018 21:25

Skin.

Paddybare · 21/10/2018 21:25

I can never understand eating one thing at a time so the answer is- all of it!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 21/10/2018 21:26

Carrots and mash, get them gone, then enjoy whatever is left.

Harrykanesrightsock · 21/10/2018 21:27

A bit of everything as in all food. I am odd though in that the vegetables are the main event for me. And I don’t like gravy.

BastardGoDarkly · 21/10/2018 21:27

Veggies with stuffing.

But I like a bit of everything in each mouthful.

DishranawaywiththeSpoon · 21/10/2018 21:29

Always veg first, then potatoes, then meat, then crackling/skin. Then I do it all over again Halloween Grin

This is how I eat all my meals actually, veg then carbs, then the best bits!

HalfBloodPrincess · 21/10/2018 21:30

Me and dp argue about this constantly. I always eat my favourite bit of the dinner first when it’s nice and hot, whereas he says you should leave the beat bit til last. I don’t understand why you would do that? What if you were too full by the time you got to the best bit? Makes no sense.

OrangeOrBlackcurrant · 21/10/2018 21:34

@HalfBloodPrincess That has just reminded me of what my teenage boyfriend said about Rolos. You shouldn;t give someone your last rolo, you should give them your first because that is the tastiest and most anticipated Grin

I eat veg first then a mash up of meat and potatoes with yorkshire last.

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 21/10/2018 21:36

Roasties.

Watto1 · 21/10/2018 21:36

I'll flit from veg to meat to roast potatoes and back again. I have stuffing with each forkful. I always make sure that my last mouthful is my favourite part - usually roast potato but if we have pork it's the crackling. I really fancy a roast now!

tigercub50 · 21/10/2018 21:36

Not really sure! Bit of everything I think. Love a good old roast!
