If you are eating a roast dinner what part do you eat first?

I know this is completely random but it occurred to me earlier that whenever I have a roast dinner I always start by eating the vegetables. Dp will eat some meat first, same as dd. Just wondered if anyone else always eats a particular part first ?

I have a huge mouth, so I try and get a piece of each individual item in one go. Only difficulty is fitting it on the fork.

Rockbird · 21/10/2018 21:39

Stuffing and/or yorkies first, then meat and veg together and lastly roasties dunked in the remaining gravy.

OvOntToSuckYourBlood · 21/10/2018 21:39

Veg first.

It’s the least tasty part but the best for you and if I left it until later I might get full and would eat the nicer stuff.

I save the best for last but it’s a bad way to go about it as you end up forcing yourself to eat even when full so as not to waste the tastiest bit. It’s how I got fat!

I've had the same order since I was a child:

All veg
Meat
Yorkies
Parsnips
Potatoes

drinkswineoutofamug · 21/10/2018 21:49

Always the Yorkshire pud first , dipped in gravy. I've mostly ate the meat first, this was from being a kid and being told to eat the meat first as that was the most expensive thing on the plate

hiddeneverything · 21/10/2018 21:50

I mix it all up

Proseccoagain · 22/10/2018 00:04

Always a roast potato first, then mix it up a bit.

Redbrook · 22/10/2018 00:12

Veg first
Then meat
Roast potatoes always last

We don’t eat beef so never have Yorkshires

Noboozeforme · 22/10/2018 00:29

I think I might be weird but I eat everything separately.

All the peas
Then all the carrots
Then all the cauliflower
All the meat
All the potatoes

My kids eat the same way. I never mix food (unless it's something like spaghetti Bolognese).

safariboot · 22/10/2018 00:32

Yorkshire pud first, filled to the brim with gravy, then the rest however.

Defender90 · 22/10/2018 00:44

You eat everything at the same time! You have to.

Then leave a wee bit of Yorkshire pudding to the very end.

ilovepixie · 22/10/2018 00:54

Veg first. Yorkies last

Nat6999 · 22/10/2018 01:15

When my mum cooks a Sunday roast we eat it the proper Yorkshire way, Yorkshire pudding as a separate first course with gallons of gravy.
Then meat, veg, Roasties & mash or new potatoes again with gallons of gravy. I've always even now been stood at the side of my mum while she was carving the meat waiting for a slice to put me on until the whole dinner is ready.

Shadow1234 · 22/10/2018 01:36

Bit of everything.

bumblebee39 · 22/10/2018 01:45

Meat, veg, stuffing, Yorkshires, potatoes.

I don't really like mind wasting potatoes.

LongSummerDays · 22/10/2018 05:40

Meat first, veg then roasties with gravy. Then Yorkshire pud with more gravy. 😋

Neshoma · 22/10/2018 08:20

What a strange question. I know someone who eats all of one food stuff at a time.

I like to have a go at everything, towards to end everything is mixed up in a lovely, tasty mess.

Babybearsporij · 22/10/2018 09:24

I like to have a few different things on my fork at once. Usually my first combo is veg and meat, followed by potato and veg. Plenty of condiment as well - mustard, mint sauce, bread sauce etc, depending on the meat.

amusedbush · 22/10/2018 09:27

Veg, then potatoes, then meat, then yorkshires.

Borntobeamum · 22/10/2018 09:41

I always used to leave the best bit til last, whether that was meat or some particularly tasty roast potatoes.
Then I thought.......my God what if I die before I get to the tasty bit?!?
Now I just eat everything at once!

Gramgram · 22/10/2018 18:16

I tend to eat the parsnips, broccoli and cauliflower first. Then the potatoes and peas, leaving the meat and Yorkshire last. However if we have roast pork then I'll crunch the crackling first.

LaDameAuxLicornes · 22/10/2018 18:37

Everything at the same time, but I always make sure I have some meat left till last.

I really want roast chicken with roast potatoes, carrots, peas, gravy and stuffing now. Damn.

BrokenWing · 22/10/2018 18:41

Bit of everything on the fork including cranberry sauce

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 22/10/2018 18:42

Iv not read the thread yet.

I don't eat meat so that's not a consideration for me but but I eat the veg first and I think it's because I start with the things that go cold first then work my way through that way saving the my favourite bits until near the end.

DwangelaForever · 22/10/2018 18:42

Chicken skin 🤤🤤🤤🤤 , followed by the potato's, Yorkshire's, veg, then Chicken.
