Does the 4 weeks have to be taken as a block? DD wants to do it next year only with Guide camp and a holiday that we want to book based on a work’s shutdown period it could be tricky.....

Mine did it and yes, you really need to do it in the continuous block. You forge friendships and build teamwork in first couple weeks which is definitely needed when you go into the 2nd half, the community part. In special circumstances, you can split your time in order to complete the course and graduate (one person became ill when mine did it and returned later in summer) but it would be very difficult coming in half way through when everyone else is a team.

Yes is is done as a block, often these weeks are before the main school summer holiday as GCSE exams are completed early

My daughter did a three week programme with just one week of community service.

My daughter did it, I think you need to do it as a block as you form a team. I would highly recommend!

Ah, right, thanks for that, guess she has some decisions to make then!
