Has Facebook changed seeing friends reactions?

Just that really. I realised yesterday that I no longer see when people have liked or reacted to a post. I used to like seeing new news articles, tips, stories and things and my newsfeed is now all just my pages I follow. The only things I see are if someone is actually tagged on a post or if they've commented. I occasionally get sponsored ads coming up with 'jimmy jones and jemima smith like this company...' but that's it.

Thinking back it's been like this for a wee while. I felt like my newsfeed was quite samey but couldn't work out what had changed.

Is it a fault with my Facebook or is this just a change they've made? I'm a small business owner and we rely on people liking posts to boost our visibility but if you're not seeing friends reactions to things then this will have an impact on us, so this is something else that concerns me (but my main concern is really that I just want to see all the delicious recipes and things my friends have been liking ).

Anyone? I've reported it to facebook but would like to know if it's just the way facebook is now or if it's a problem with my newsfeed.

What's showing in you notification section?

soloula · 21/10/2018 19:58

As far as I know all my notifications settings are what they should be. There isn't really one that I can see specifically for my newsfeed though. I've been into newsfeed settings and all it's letting me do is unblock people, choose my see first etc. Basically it lets me choose who I see on my newsfeed but not what they post.

Facebook changed this around May; you are now pretty unlikely to see likes/reactions unless the post has high algorithmic value for you or it's being sponsored by the poster.

You will still see shares, comments and tags as normal. Likes and reactions were seeing very low engagement rates across the board; so to boost relevancy (and therefore usage), Facebook canned it.

Anchor that sounds exactly what it is. Such a shame if that's what they've done. I used to really enjoy seeing the memes, news stories, recipes, events and things that people were liking. My news feed is much less interesting now.
