GBBO... do they wear the same clothes for 2 days?

So contestants appear to wear the same clothes for 2 days. Why? Do they not smell on day 2?

Or is it actually filmed on one (incredibly) long day?

Why would they smell?

Heuschrecke · 21/10/2018 07:50

Maybe they have two of everything so they've got clean, but identical, outfits the following day?

LoniceraJaponica · 21/10/2018 07:51

My clothes don't smell after 2 days Hmm

Ooh I read a article about this somewhere ages ago.
They have to dress the same on both days, I think it's to do with continuity, and it's easier for the audience to go 'Oh that's Raul'
But they do film all day, like 16 hours. So maybe they refilm some of the first days stuff on the second day, if they didn't get a good angle.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 21/10/2018 07:52

Possibly they wash and dry everything overnight for contestants too.

I wear clothes two days in a row. Why would they smell?

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 21/10/2018 07:53

They may of course film two days worth in one day,. I follow Kim-Joy on Twitter who is responsive so I am going to ask her,

AceAcer · 21/10/2018 07:53

This bugs the hell out of me, actually. I think that they must smell too, especially this summer when it must have been unbearably hot in that tent at times.

I get that they do it for continuity (i.e. a rueful look caught on camera on day one looks better when edited into day 2), but, yes I reckon unless they have two of everything or a very efficient laundry service they must stink and be filthy.

Katedotness1963 · 21/10/2018 07:54

Continuity, in case they have to refill bits. Their clothes are laundered at night. Read that somewhere...

Xuli · 21/10/2018 07:54

DD and I were talking about this the other day! I reckon someone must clean it for then between shows. They're baking, its bound to get dirty surely?

Katedotness1963 · 21/10/2018 07:54

Re-film.

BiscuitDrama · 21/10/2018 07:55

Mine would smell after a day in the kitchen. The stress and heat would make me very sweaty. Mind you, I’d feel the same about a normal day at work.

Yonijust · 21/10/2018 07:55

So

WhirlwindHugs · 21/10/2018 07:55

Spending all day next to an oven on a very hot midsummer day the clothes will definitely not be clean at the end of it!

I guess the crew probably do have all their clothes washed, I am assuming the contestants stay in a hotel overnight so it wouldn't be difficult to arrange.

Bovneydazzlers · 21/10/2018 07:58

That makes sense, re the refilming bits etc.

Re smelling- I think a t shirt probably would smell 2 days baking in a hot tent (I don’t think many people would wear the same t shirt for two days without washing would they?!). They must be washed overnight.

I would love to know the answer. Just catching up from last week and the lovely Hawaiian shirts must need a wash. I would be very hot, sweaty and dirty after a day cooking in the tent. Perhaps everyone has two identical outfits!
