Accidentally took too many codeines!! Anyone medical around, am so worried.

I just wondered whether I should go to A&E or if this will probably be ok.

I'm prescribed cocodamol for a health condition and took two this evening as normal (approx 9.30pm)

I also have some pure codeines that I was prescribed last month and accidentally took 3 of these about 20 mins ago. I thought they were my amytriptalines that I take every night. So I've had 90mg of codeine in one go. I'm really really worried but then again have heard of people taking this amount and more and being fine...I have some tolerance as have been taking 60mg regularly for a few months so it's not much more than usual.

What do people think I should do, any advice welcome! Thank you.

I'd ring 111 if I were you, best not to take any chances where codeine's concerned...

I’ve done simmilar accidentally when suffering from severe tooth ache. I’ve been fine, felt woozy and spaced out for a few hours though.

Call 111 for proper advice.

This wouldn't bother me. I would go to bed.
You have only had one extra tablet.

How many should you have had?

@Sarah861 I should have had 2 of them but took 3. I'm starting to feel pretty sleepy now, my husband said he'll keep an eye on me as long as he can to make sure I'm ok if I do drop off to sleep .

As someone who used to massively abuse codeine and take up to 6/7/8 of these at once I would expect you are ok. Go to bed and sleep it off. Don't panic and drink plenty of water.

For arthritis I am prescribed Zapain tablets which are 30mg codeine plus 50g paracetamol in each tablet. I take two at a time (as prescribed) so 60mg codeine four times day. I don’t think you have taken a huge amount

I'd call the poisons info line on the packet just to check. Codeine has been taken off the shelves in Australia.

I accidentally took 4 the other night I think. I took some then for some reason took it again. Then it sort of clicked that I’d already taken some 5 minutes earlier. I was a bit worried then I felt queasy. Vomited everything up. I’ve started using a wee pill box now to stop mix ups.
