If you rent, do you expect a bathroom cabinet?

Very dull I know!

When I rented, I bought my own. Just wondered if there is a norm, and if so, what it is?

Every time we've moved into an unfurnished flat we've had to buy our own; one mirrored wall-mounted one and one under the sink one.

spugzbunny · 20/10/2018 15:53

No, I've never had one. I'm used to it that I don't have one in my know owned house!

I have lived in 3 rented properties in last 6 years and all of them have had a bathroom cabinet.

LeftRightCentre · 20/10/2018 15:57

No.

Bumbumtaloo · 20/10/2018 15:58

I’ve lived in 3 private rentels all had a bathroom cabinet. Housing association no cabinet (and not expected).

Bumbumtaloo · 20/10/2018 15:59

Ugh pressed post too soon. Should have also said all unfurnished.

spreadingchestnuttree · 20/10/2018 16:01

Every rental property I've lived in has had a bathroom cabinet. And both properties I've owned had a bathroom cabinet.

It doesn't strike me as something you expect to take with you, but rather something that comes as part of the fixtures and fittings.

spreadingchestnuttree · 20/10/2018 16:03

And both properties I've owned had a bathroom cabinet - I meant to say they had one when I moved in, left by the previous owners.

DunesOfSand · 20/10/2018 16:03

We lived in a house for a decade. It never had a bathroom cabinet in either the bathroom or the ensuite. So there hasnt been a cabinet in the house for the past 5 years its been rented.

BitchQueen90 · 20/10/2018 17:52

Nope, I rent and don't have one. I bought one of those wicker basket things to keep my toiletries in.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 20/10/2018 18:02

I can't say it would affect my decision on whether or not to rent a place, but at least the last 3 properties have had them (I start to forget after that)

HerRoyalNotness · 20/10/2018 18:07

Our house that we rent out doesn’t have one, it just has a stupid pedestal sink. It’s always been like that. The last property manager redid the bathroom and I’m sure I requested he put a cabinet style in, but he ignored me.

When we lived in it I had a wall mounted cabinet in there.

Cachailleacha · 20/10/2018 18:12

I just keep toiletries in a pine box from Ikea.

SoyDora · 20/10/2018 18:14

I’ve rented a lot of houses and can’t even remember which did/didn’t have bathroom cabinets, so it’s not something I’d look for or expect in a house.

dingdongdigeridoo · 20/10/2018 18:29

No. But it’s nice when there is one. Or at least some shelves! Lack of storage space in a bathroom is annoying.
