Kleenex for Men - more nonsense

I cannot believe that Kleenex are re-branding their man-size tissues as extra large! Are people really that daft that they are offended by the expression 'Man Size Tissues'. In general, men tend to have larger noses than women, so it makes sense to make larger tissues for them. As a child with a cold, I remember using my father's big box of Kleenex - cannot remember being offended that I shouldn't really be using them!!!

But as you used them a smal girl why not just call them what they are ie extra large instead of making them for men or women?

Pebblespony · 20/10/2018 13:05

Men's noses are not so much larger that they need bigger tissues. Unless the men you know have some kind of super noses. They're just larger tissues and should be named as such, no man size nonsense.

Did your mother buy smaller 'lady' tissues? What happened if your father ran out and had to use these? Would this even be possible!!

From personal experience, i don't find any problem using standard sized tissues to blow my man-nose. Thinking laterally, maybe "man-sized" was not actually a reference to greater male nose-blowing requirements. Perhaps they didn't think the public would react well to "Kleenex Wank Napkins".

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 20/10/2018 13:09

Ladies tissues came in a range of colours which were lovely. I don't think many men would have wanted to use them.

Wank napkins! Imaging that in a marketing brainstorming session.

thenightsky · 20/10/2018 13:12

Can you still buy coloured ones in the square box?

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 20/10/2018 13:14

No can't buy coloured tissues any more except from a company called, I think. Renova. You can get them on line but v expensive. Miss coloured tissues and coloured cotton wool balls - so much more interesting than boring white ones!

Oh MilkTray, the coarseness of the modern world must give you constant dismay. Perhaps you could build a time machine if that's a suitable occupation for a lady?

fantasmasgoria1 · 20/10/2018 13:19

When I have a cold I need large tissues! The dainty ladies tissues don't cut it!

Cococachara · 20/10/2018 13:22

Extra large branding makes far more sense then man sized tissues

MiddlingMum · 20/10/2018 13:24

I'd forgotten about coloured tissues. When I was a child we used to have ones which were multicoloured - a yellow one, a pink one, a blue one, a green one. Just boring white nowadays (which is probably better for the environment though).

Can you still buy coloured toilet roll? We always had yellow to match the bathroom, white was for poor people, apparently Hmm

Anyway, back to the point of the thread.....

CarryOnScreamingValenta · 20/10/2018 13:24

My father was the only one not to use the 'Man Size' tissues at home, because he always used a handkerchief. He was also the only one who didn't like 'Daddies' sauce. The rest of us (all female) paid no attention to the product names.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 20/10/2018 13:25

Does nobody these days like prettier, more colourful things for women, leaving the more basic stuff for men? I despair.

OP posts:
DameFanny · 20/10/2018 13:38

Men are also allowed colourful things you know.

And unnecessary colour often makes things look cheap.

Nothisispatrick · 20/10/2018 13:47

Is that a joke?

happinessischocolate · 20/10/2018 15:35

Apparently the whole rebranding is nonsense and just a publicity stunt, there was a few joking comments on Twitter and Kleenex have used it for publicity. People havent really made a big deal of this.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 20/10/2018 15:37

Most own brands have been large/extra large for a while now. Does indeed sound like marketing!

Those pretty colourful tissues are rubbish, no good when you have a horrible cold!
