I have a big bag of DS and DD old clothes and coats sizes 2-3 and various baby 6-9 9-12 and thought maybe they might come in handy for the nursery as spares?

I dont want to ask and be greeted with a puzzled face if you get what I mean has anyone done this? If they dont will throw them into charity bag.

Our local nursuries use them but also your local womens refuge would be extremely grateful. They often have women and children turn up with no possessions so clothes are always sought after

I always used to take old clothes to nursery - they were always really pleased to get them!

Children in nursery are meant to take spare clothes with them surely? I always send mine in with at least one full change of clothes. Our nursery has "spares" but it's usually odd items that have been left behind by children and not reclaimed. I don't imagine they have the need for huge piles of clothes or the space to store them. I agree that a women's refuge would be the best place to donate them to.

I'm sure your local children's ward would be glad of them. We have loads of small baby clothes. But nothing for toddlers or older children.

Our nursery accept them greatfully. Yes ds goes with spares but sometimes they go through them

They do go with spares but sometimes they need more. I remember my son coming home in tights and a pink t shirt once. He looked fabulous! I donated a lot of old clothes to them. Just spread your donations around and share the love Wink

I'm not a nursery worker, but DC2's nursery are always very grateful for donations.
