Why are lie-ins such a disappointment?

(Light-hearted)
Every week day I drag myself out of bed at 6.45am and I’m like a drugged up zombie for the first hour or two. The only thing which keeps me going is the fantasy of a lovely lie-in come the weekends/holidays.
Since having kids I can only manage a 8.00am lie-in these days (unlike my epic midday lounging, pre-kids).
However, when I do have these much anticipated snooze-feasts, I wake up feeling like I’ve downed a gallon of whisky and slept the night on a cobbled street.
Oh, how I long for those days when a relaxing sleep in and breakfast in bed watching SM-TV were the start to my weekends!

i know how you feel, try and early night? wake up early still!
i woke at 8.30 which is amazingly late, but time is rushing by this morning!

I know, I eventually got up at 8.30 and here I am it’s almost 10.30 and I’m sat here at the kitchen table, still semi-zombie on the iPad.

I slept in til 9am today and feel like I could take over the world after so much sleep (DH had to roll me into bed at 10pm after I got pissed at a friend's house - the taxi bringing me home drove past our house and I was so spannered I forgot to say "I live there" and had to walk from the end of the next road).

I never sleep in, though, and rarely get more than 5 hours at night so 11 hours is miraculous.

I get the hungover sounding thing too after a lie in.

All week I haul my arse out of bed at 6:30am with dd1, and look forward to a more leisurely start on a weekend.

The reality is, that anything past 8:30am leaves me feeling hungover & blah even if I've not had any alcohol :(

I used to be able to lie in for a good half day, but will now wake at 7ish unable to get back to sleep even if I want to.

My alarm forces me reluctantly from sleep at 7 on weekdays; but at the weekend my eyes just ping open at 7 and I get bored if I try and stay in bed!

Idontbeleive- are you sure you are not just still pissed?! Wink

DS3 tends to sleep in on weekdays and then wake at 7 on weekends 😫
