Working 10-2 - what would you eat in the morning?

I'm starting a new job next week (woohoo!) which is part time and with commute I'll be out from 9.30-2.30.

Normally I just have toast and tea at about 7 and lunch with the kids around 11.30. What sort of substantial thing can I have around 9am to stop me getting hangry by hometime?

Porridge and toast
Scrambled eggs, ham/bacon/mushrooms/cheese
Omelette and beans
I sometimes have ham with mushrooms, scrambled egg and a full tin of chopped tomatoes

What type of job op?
If it’s a desk job you may be able to take a sandwich or something and eat it while you work, assuming you don’t get an official lunch break.
Or have a filling breakfast just before you leave and take a banana or something to have around midday.
Prepare something healthy in advance to have when you get home, otherwise the temptation will be to reach for quick satisfaction such as crisps/chocolate/junk food.

Probably nothing until I got home again and was able to grab a sandwich.

Cachailleacha · 20/10/2018 10:14

I wouldn't think about it really. I would just eat when I got home.

Petitepamplemousse · 20/10/2018 10:14

Preferably I would eat eggs and avocado on toast about 8.30-9am, or eggs and tomatoes on toast. Something ‘brunch’-y and then you won’t need to eat until 2.30. Can always take some fruit or a snack and eat it on the way home.

I work 9-2.30 (home by 3pm) and have scrambled eggs or porridge at 7.45, a box of nuts around 11ish then something when I get in at 3pm - cheese & meats, a protein shake smoothie, etc.

Toofle · 20/10/2018 10:18

Protein. Yogurt will do.

Good suggestions thanks everyone.

It is an office job so a sneaky sandwich might work too.

I'd like to just not have to think about it but not only do I tend to get hangry but I also tend to feel sick / faint if I don't eat regularly. Which I've been used to being easy at home

I work 9.30-2.30 and have porridge, fruit and poached eggs every morning. I have a sandwich and more fruit at work as we're allowed to eat in my office.

MorningsEleven · 20/10/2018 11:31

I work in hospitality so lunch breaks tend to be at around 3pm. Often I leave the house at 8:45 - I'm hungry just thinking about it. I try to include protein in my breakfast and drink plenty during the day to fool myself that I'm not starving.

Babybearsporij · 20/10/2018 21:52

I have various kinds of porridge - different flavours, fruit etc with yoghurt / quark / skyr with it. If I have it at 7, I'm full until 2-3pm. It seems to be the magic combination of carbs / fats / protein for me.

Mossop17 · 20/10/2018 21:56

I work these hours and have a 10 minute break I take a pasta pot or a salad or a sandwich or soup most can be eaten in 10 minutes at my desk! I have porridge before school run or cereal around 7am then tea at tea time.

Thanks for the ideas everyone 😀
