What do you love about your child's after school club?

Our after school club is looking for new and exciting ideas, it's not a themed club such as Lego or Film club, but a place to play, relax, do homework etc.

I would love to hear what your children have enjoyed about their after school club, and what you like most about it?

Or if they don't currently go to an after school club, what would you like to see if you were looking to send them to one?

It was in rooms off and had access to the games halls so they did something active most nights such as badningtom, short tennis, table tennis, footie etc. Some nights they would bring out toys and games such as lego, small pool tables etc.

In the rooms off the games hall they had a small snack and could draw, do basic arts and craft if they preferred that or chilled out.

In summer they had outdoor access and again did games.

Homework should be done with supervision from a parents imo.

They take account of different children’s preferences. So our after school club is based in one area but has access to a reading/quiet/drawing room, usually physical activity outside and a chatting room with board games etc. I like that one of my children can enjoy sitting reading by themselves after being ‘overloaded’ in the school day. Whilst another can run around like crazy!

Our after school club is in the hall so we set up different sections. A quiet area to read and do homework, if the child wants (usually spelling practice) We then have a craft area and board games / Lego etc set up around the room. We also have access to the playground and use that most nights. So it's reassuring to see that parents like this set up.

I wish we had more indoor space to do activities such as badminton, and other games. However we would have to remove the other areas and games to accommodate this, so at the minute these are outdoor only and obviously some nights the weather prevents them from happening. We do have a wii and try to put on dancing / sports games to let the more active children have an outlet when they can't go outside.
