Who are your favourites?
I was at work today and the long version of Forever Autumn came on. I had to stop and listen to Richard Burton's voice. It's the same with the beginning of Under Milk Wood. "To begin at the beginning..." His voice makes me go brrrrrrrr!
Also Liam Neeson and Sean Bean. Their voices give me the galloping fanny gallops!! 😂 😂 😂 😂

OMG - read the title and immediately thought of the identical voice before even reading your OP. Richard Burton in the War of the Worlds.

Great minds...

DramaAlpaca · 19/10/2018 23:30

Novasglow · 19/10/2018 23:31

My husband too. When we were dating we mostly texted. But when he rang me one evening when I was at my mum's for the weekend his voice just tipped me in love.

rosieposey · 19/10/2018 23:44

James Earl Jones

SeigneurLapindeGrantham · 19/10/2018 23:47

Don't forget Justin Hayward OP such a beautiful voice together with Burton on one of my favourite albums (War of the Worlds)

AlpacaLypse · 19/10/2018 23:49

Another vote for James Mason. He was the sexy semi-villain in a black and white movie that I can remember watching when I was about 13 - something about a highwayman and Margaret Lockwood was the female lead - The Wicked Lady?

I fell totally utterly and irredeemably in love and have been rather a bit ever since.

mikado1 · 19/10/2018 23:50

Lady Gaga in A Star is Born.

Lessstressedhemum · 19/10/2018 23:54

Philip Maroc
Richard Armitage
Sam Heughan in Jamie Fraser mode

Lessstressedhemum · 19/10/2018 23:56

A man I know from Manchester does it for me. His voice just immediately turns me on.

But also, at my dad's funeral, we had Richard Burton (a recording, not the real thing!) read "do not go gentle" and it was beautiful. RIP x

And, it doesn't do it for me, but loving the Alan Rickman love, because I love him too.

And my DH has a lovely voice.

GhoulishGremlins · 20/10/2018 00:04

Jodie Whittaker and Mel Giedroych (sp?)

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 20/10/2018 00:08

Lauren Bacall, Ewan McGregor, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Like other posters, could happily listen to Mr Burton, Bean and Allam read the back of a Cornflakes packet for hours on end without getting bored.

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 20/10/2018 00:08

James Mason every time. AlpacaLypse (I have just learnt bold etc on the phone ... I hope) that’s definitely The Wicked Lady.

7Days · 20/10/2018 00:09

Ooh. Your mention of Tamsin Grieg reminds me.
in Black books, remember when she went to bed, alone, all excited and ready for some me time when the man on the shipping news came on.
Deep and mysterous. Cromorty, 10 knots, fair to middling, firth, visibility poor....
Tamsin Greig (or her character) would get this thread.

RaingodsWithZippos · 20/10/2018 00:10

My old boss - if I closed my eyes and listened to him, it did funny things to me. Gorgeous voice, shame about the rest of him.

Ray Winstone is another one. And Adam Hills. And (if singing voices are permitted) Fish, Marti Pellow, Meatloaf and that bloke from Lighthouse Family.

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 20/10/2018 00:11

Ooh, and Simon Armitage - especially reading his poems.

FrustratedBeyond · 20/10/2018 00:11

Youtuber Markiplier... His voice is just... Yeah

GhoulishGremlins · 20/10/2018 00:14

@FrustratedBeyond oh fuck yes, I want him to read me bedtime stories.

I want to also add David Attenborough. And Martha Stewart.

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 20/10/2018 00:15

Roger Allam could redeem any old nonsense like ... I dunno, just at random ... Sarah and Duck

groundcontroltomontydon · 20/10/2018 00:24

Another vote for Simon Armitage. Also Sam West and Kate Rusby.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 20/10/2018 00:25

Kevin Mcloud.

Oh go on Kevin you can give me a good rendering
