Family Ski Trip (first timers) - any recommendations?

We're planning to go in Feb half term. DH has skied quite a few times, but DCs (10 and 6) and I are complete beginners.

I'm not massively keen tbh, but will give it a go. If I hate it, I plan to read a lot of books!

Anyway, I've no idea where to start re destinations. All I know is we want somewhere suitable for beginners, easy airport transfer, good ski schools and close to slopes.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

We did Bansko in Bulgaria for our first couple of trips because one to one lessons (and everything else) are so cheap. That way if you go and hate it you haven't spent a fortune.

Thanks - not thought of Bulgaria!

I agree - you can learn in the cheaper resorts away from the alps. You will save a fortune and then graduate to more difficult and expensive ski areas later.

As in Feb 2019?

Mate, Feb 2019 will have been booked about 10 months ago by most people, is the most expensive week of the entire ski season and so this might be a case 'get what you can' rather than much choice.

I personally would stear clear of Bulgaria and go somewhere ski-in ski-out so that you have minimal faff factor and increase the likelihood that your children will enjoy themselves.

Ski Esprit and their catered chalets are fabulous for children, make the whole trip so easy. I have taken my nephews with them several times.

Club med are also amazing but probably better if your children are quite robust and happy to be thrown in with potentially french speaking ski school.

Both those options are going to be like £8-10k for a family for Feb HT though...
