So disappointed - Amazon delivery confirmation being sent to DSs tablet

Christmas has been ruined I tell you!!!!! My DS told me today that a surprise gift that I had ordered for him for Christmas had been confirmed as delivered in a notification that appeared on his tablet. His tablet is registered with Prime so that he can have access to videos, etc but it is my account.

Does anyone know how to set up an extension of my prime account to his tablet so that he doesn't get notification of Amazon deliveries? I do realise that In the grand scheme of things this is not the end of the world but I really am disappointed that my surprise pressie for his is no longer a surprise - and it was a good one!

I thought I'd got it covered by hiding the order but obviously this isn't enough.

That’s rubbish. Haloween Sad
For future, he needs his own account and you can then ‘share’ your prime membership with him as a member of the same household for no extra cost.

fairiedemon - so does he just need to set up an actual Amazon account like mine but without prime? Then does he just log in under my prime membership?

In settings on the kindle make sure the connection to Amazon shopping is not enabled, then no notifications will appear.

There's a setting you can turn off to fix this.

You can set this up in his settings to stop him getting notifications. It's very easy to do but I'm at work atm so can't give exactly how but if you go into your account there is a setting.

He sets up his own account like yours without prime. Then you send him an invite to share your prime.

Here’s the amazon help page which should give you the right links: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?tag=mumsnetforum-21&nodeId=201945470

This also has the benefit that DC can be set up as child member (presuming they are a child!).

You can leave him on your account but just turn off all notifications. After you buy something secret you can also hide orders so if anyone ended up in order history they wouldn't see it.

DH and I both bought anniversary gifts for each other from amazon but no one saw what the other person was getting because we hid orders and turned off all notifications from amazon

fatbrows - where is the bit to turn off notifications? I still want to receive confirmations of orders to my email address but I just don't want them to appear on his screen which is what happened.

You'll have to go to settings of the tablet, which tablet have you got?
