I've got a student coming to stay with me in half term, my children are younger so I'd love to hear some suggestions for books, films, TV, games, activities hobbies etc that your 13 year old likes.

DS2 is 13 and into football (playing and watching), Xbox (fifa or fortnite) comedy series such as This Country, Friday Night Dinner and classics like Only Fools and I’m Alan Partridge.

He doesn’t read much but likes Adrian Mole when sitting on the loo and football magazines.

He enjoyed the new Jumanji film but doesn’t have the attention span for many films 😄

bexcee · 19/10/2018 13:21

Fortnite and YouTube!

HostessWithoutAClue · 19/10/2018 13:23

Thanks Colin

Adrian Mole is a good call, we don't have an Xbox but some TV and films will be good, especially if the weather is bad.

I'll get hold of the new Jumanji if its suitable for my others, otherwise we can watch the original again.

Fortnite, FIFA and You Tube.

Outdoors things - swimming, cycling and football.

Can you borrow an Xbox/PlayStation?

Westwing1 · 19/10/2018 13:37

Lego, monopoly still v popular with my 14 year old, any Marvel or Star Wars films. Lots of bacon and avocado sarnies. Wimpy Kid books. Also happy to make buns or biscuits. With a bit of luck he will like little ones and enjoy mucking in with yours and revisit his younger days!

HostessWithoutAClue · 19/10/2018 13:51

Thanks Rik

We might go swimming and there will be lots of opportunity for a kick about if he wants to.

I've got a FIFA game on my iPad, I'll decide when I meet him if I'm going to share Wink

1st person shooter games.
Huge quantities of sweets.
My current one is a rambler. His older brother did scouts.

HostessWithoutAClue · 19/10/2018 13:54

Thanks Westwing

We have tons of Lego so hopefully he'll enjoy a bit of that. We have lots of Star Wars stuff too.

My eldest is only a couple of years younger so there'll probably have some common interests (including Wimpy Kid).

We've just watched the holiday cottage stash of Men In Black films with our 10 & 12 year old - they are very funny and might be a novelty.

Outdoors stuff (hiking, messing in woods etc), xbox, playing on phone, swimming enjoyed by my two. 12 year old would happily do den-building, hide & seek, nerf guns with younger children.

HostessWithoutAClue · 19/10/2018 14:04

Thanks LtGreggs

I've never watched MIB so that will be a good film for us to share.

We are massive fans of the woods so we can pack up some hot chocolate and have a wander - perhaps throw some geocaching in.

I wonder if he has his own 'phone. If so, I don't need to entertain him at all Grin

I'm not sure what those games are but I do know about sweets!

I'll take him trick or treating!

Son is 12. Fortnite (obvs). Eating, baking, eating. Watching football/listening to football. Bake off and Strictly. Lounging about in PJs. Chess. Lego. Bowling, lazer tag, trampoline parks.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/10/2018 14:58

My boys, either side of 13, eat LOADS of cereal. They like watching YouTube, though they never agree about what to watch; one is a gamer through and through, the other likes outdoor stuff like wood whittling, foraging and the like...

ChunkyNotSoKitKat · 19/10/2018 16:49

13 year old boys like 13 year old girls.
Well actually they like 15 year old girls but don't stand a chance
