DS wrote DD's birthday card all by himself

He's is in year 2 but summer born. He's being assessed for dyslexia and dyspraxia (and will almost certainly be found to have both). He really struggles at school and is still learning to write most of the letters legibly.

Despite that, he insisted on writing DD's card by himself. I wrote it out for him to copy into the card "Dear DD happy birthday love from DS" and he copied it and wrote the envelope and even drew pictures. It took him about 20 minutes to do the actual writing but he did it

DD (now 13) opened it this morning and made it clear she was so so proud of him and so am I.

Silly to post this really but felt I had to tell the world!! I know for most 6 year olds it would just be normal every day stuff but for DS its amazing

This has made me cry! (I’m a wuss!)

But especially your dd’s reaction to it is just beautiful.

My ds2 is 12 and has dyslexia and dyspraxia and my ds1 (14) is incredibly patient and kind at helping him, it just makes my heart burst with pride when I seen them together.

PreseaCombatir · 19/10/2018 12:37

That’s really made me smile. You should all be really proud, well done him!

Well the fact that despite his difficulty he took the time to do it, and dd let him know how proud and pleased she was speaks volumes of you as a mum! So congratulations op on having such lovely children! Flowers
