Tell me something good

I've had a shit day and rather than wallow in wine and cry for the rest of the night, please tell me good things that have happened today. I need cheering up and reminding that the world isn't such an awful place after all.

Don't worry, there will still be wine

My difficult 13 year old has been on report since (the beginning of time) late September and he got four commendations today and I nearly cried when I got the email from his head of year.

I'm drinking wine in bed watching a cheesy film.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 18/10/2018 21:33

Just realised the only wine we have is white

Ah well

MalcolmsBrokenWalrusMoneybox · 18/10/2018 21:35

I looked out of the window this morning and saw Orion's belt!

Dc2 went to college despite express anxiety. They did really well.

mineofuselessinformation · 18/10/2018 21:41

Bloody autocorrect- extreme.

FawnDrench · 18/10/2018 21:43

The dog's just given me a lovely kiss, then gone over to DH and burped loudly in his face.

Bless him....

Chelsea26 · 18/10/2018 21:57

I laughed until I cried and my stomach hurt - I haven’t done that for ages!

Bobbiepin · 18/10/2018 22:02

@savagebeauty73 that's great news, well done to your lad. I'm a teacher and days like that are really rewarding for us too.

@mineofuselessinformation that's great for her. Hopefully it'll encourage her to keep going.

Thank you everyone, keep them coming.

Got two loads of washing dry outside today - in October! Result!

Faster · 18/10/2018 22:04

I got complimented on my work today. It was a testing day so it was really nice to hear, in fact it’s made me smile quite a bit.

Hope tomorrow is less of a shit day OP. My sister is an NQT and I’m so proud and also a little worried for her.

Crunched · 18/10/2018 22:06

My DD1 graduated today - and the whole beautiful ancient city she studied in, came alive- young people full of promise and their faces glowing with happiness.

SavageBeauty73 · 18/10/2018 22:12

@Crunched you must be so proud!

Bobbiepin · 18/10/2018 22:17

@boyskeepswimming I went out in a t-shirt, it's like the last hurrah of summer.

@faster look up Russell Howard's view on teachers video, funnily but a reality check. I don't work on Friday's so temporarily out of it but DD has been quite poorly so fingers crossed we'll make it out the house.

@crunched congratulations! That's a lovely image. Well done to your DD.

SavageBeauty73 Thank you, I am.

I have been super positive at work this week (high school teacher) and gave lots of colleagues and students compliments and little boosts to get us through to the end of a long term.
Today, someone told me I was amazing, it was the best feeling!

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 18/10/2018 22:35

I adulted like a motherfucker. Sorted out life/health insurance, cleaned house, got two very hyper kids to sleep at a reasonable hour ON MY OWN (harder than that may sound, believe me) and made nourishing vegetarian food from scratch that my children actually ate.

Proud as a very proud thing today. No doubt tomorrow they'll refused anything but chips, but hey ;)

Singlenotsingle · 18/10/2018 22:44

Two things happened - my doctor prescribed a new painkiller and it works! I ran up the stairs and skipped around the house laughing which made DP and DS laugh. So happy! Grin

My DP had a day off and baked a pear tart with pears from our garden. See pic.

DD and I made a chestnut and chocolate cake that was a thing of beauty.

There have been no giant spider or daddy long legs incidents in our house this Autumn.
