You're better off doing it yourself. Have a look in Martin Lewis Money Saving website and there is a walkthrough in there for it.

JLbaby · 18/10/2018 11:20

Same as pp, I did it myself - lots of the banks, loan companies have the form to fill in on their website, couldn't be easier.

Don't let a company take 40% of what is yours when it's so easy to do yourself.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/10/2018 11:22

I agree with Lemony don’t use a company, they take too big a slice. I did this myself a few years back and sucsessfully claimed a few thousand from various cards and loans. I used the Martin Lewis template letters, dead easy.

ok

so do i make a list of all loans etc tgat i can remember and just write to them?

not sure i can remember everything

When you do it yourself the banks ask of account numbers etc ( we didn't have because it was years ago ), so couldn't pursue. Do you know if this is the same with companies that pursue it for you ?

IAmcuriousyellow · 18/10/2018 11:26

I made a failed attempt through an agent, it fell down when the bank wanted documentation which I don’t have because it was 30 years ago. Certain sure they can find account numbers for expired mortgages, but they maybe want to limit the amount of claims they’re dealing with

JLbaby · 18/10/2018 11:33

@Pringlemunchers - I had no account numbers, paperwork or anything - I just knew the companies I had loans with and filled in the forms and they wrote back to me with the account numbers and whether I had ppi or not.

If you do use a company, don't make it The Claims Guys. ...hopeless

IAmcuriousyellow · 18/10/2018 12:03

JLbaby was Lloyd’s amongst them do you remember?

JLbaby · 18/10/2018 12:12

No, none of them Lloyds sorry!

ALemonyPea · 18/10/2018 15:01

As I said earlier Martins website has a template and sends the letters for you, you just provide the details, and it's free, no commission. Most companies take a third commission for sending the same letter. Better in your pocket.
