Car seats

Can anyone recommend a stage 2, (up to 36kg so it'll last a long time) 5 point harness car seat that is suitable for a large 2 year old. Ideally Isofix but not essential.

I've googled and become bogged down by all the different ones available. Some are £300+ and some are £30 but seem to do the same thing. Any recommendations please?

We got one from Kiddicare years ago,

This one.
It's lasted well and is still going even tho DD is now almost 6.

mine had the britax evolva 1,2,3. Not isofix but they fitted comfortably until 5 in the harness (which is when they hit the weight limit) and are still comfy in them now at nearly 7 as a HBB.

I’ve had both Kiddy and Cybex car seats and both have been brilliant - paid about £200 for them.
The decision was made easier for us because we have a brilliant local shop which will advise and then fit a seat in your car while you wait - to check it fits properly (because some car seats don’t fit so well in certain cars). Do you have anywhere like that near you?

Yes there is a shop like that near me @Enidblyton1 but I can't really afford £200 at the moment so wouldn't want to go incase they were all out of my price range

Thanks for the recommendations I like the look of the britax one, it's a brand I know so I feel better choosing a recognised one

We've got a Joie 360 spin and we absolutely love it. Not sure on the price as we bought it last year.

We also had the Britax evolva, it was a great seat. Only downside was that it's quite wide so with two of them in the car it was almost impossible to sit anyone between them.

We did end up buying a lighter high back booster for those times we needed 3 in the back or when we needed to use a seat in another car.

I have the britax evolva 123 the max weight for the internal harness is 18kg so if you have a big 2 year old he may already be nearing that limit! Both my girls hit that weight at 3! Check your little ones weight. Some other car seats have a 25kg internal harness limit.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 18/10/2018 16:17

We have a Britax Evolva 123 and DS is 3.5 and is now using the seatbelt because he's too heavy for the 5 point harness (he's tall so is just all round big for his age). However, it previously had DD in it and she's just come out of it at 9yo, so it has lasted well.

It is quite wide though and you wouldn't have fitted anyone in-between the two carseats if you only had a half size seat in the back middle.

@adviceonthepox thank you for that advice I didn't realise the internal harness had a separate weight limit. I'm going to have to get DD weighed! She's only just turned 2 but she's so tall and broad but I don't like the thought of her only being restrained with a seatbelt yet... thanks again that was helpful
