And have friends visiting for Xmas from London, what treats would you love them to bring?
I’ve already got proper Xmas pressies etc but wanted some extra fun/foodie stuff.

I know Liverpool is a fantastic city where you can get anything you want btw.
I don’t mean to imply I’m visiting people exiled to the sticks and need to bring the trappings of civilisation Grin

Grin

I think beers, cheese and biscuits etc. that are specific to your area are always nice to receive.

We don't have a Waitrose or a Booth's here so maybe a hamper with cheeses, jams, goodies etc from either of them?

That's something I would love anyway

Oops posted too early!

That's something I would like to receive anyway, and failing that maybe something small from Fortnum and Mason?

UrsulaBirken · 17/10/2018 18:50

There's a Waitrose in Formby, so if you live in North Liverpool it's very accessible. Harrods or Fortnum's would go down well I'd say.

fizzytonicplease · 17/10/2018 18:55

Isnt there a Booth in burscough, im sure i passed it on the way to windmill farm!?
I love savaloy and you cant get it here, not sure if it would travel/keep well tho lol

mycatplotsdeath · 17/10/2018 18:59

Some lovely chutney & jams from F&M

bunintheoven88 · 17/10/2018 19:04

@UrsulaBirken
I live in the south Liverpool area so unfortunately it's a bit of a trek to get to for us!

I always wonder why there isn't one in Liverpool city centre 🤔

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 17/10/2018 19:27

Nothing?! It’s still the U.K.!

The only thing I could possibly think would be really localised stuff, like near my dad has a place that does honey. Not that I’d ask for that coz I don’t like honey Grin

SleightOfMind · 17/10/2018 22:00

Oh I hadn’t thought of Fortnums (DH had a holiday job there as a schoolboy packing hampers. He has some horrific stories!)

That’s brilliant. Thanks guys.

They’re in the Formby area annoyingly Bun otherwise Waitrose goodies would have been a perfect solution.
However, I’m happy to smuggle up Waitrose contraband at hugely inflated prices. 9pm, 21st Dec, under the clock at Lime St. Grin
Is there a Neals Yard cheese equivalent? I was thinking of doing that and perhaps coming home (scoffing on the train) lots of lovely Lancs cheeses?

Diana I know you can get all the same things but you just don’t do you.
I spent a bit of my childhood in Germany and I can internet order bratwurst whenever I want but I’d be delighted if someone randomly turned up with some.

My friends are originally Londoners so there is a connection. I’m not foisting it on them I promise Grin

Savoys!
DS2 works in a chippy. They probably have frozen ones I can take up.
That’s brilliant!
Will they taste the same if you have to cook them yourself though?

OP posts:
SleightOfMind · 17/10/2018 22:15

We don’t have Booths down south either. Sad

OP posts:
fizzytonicplease · 18/10/2018 07:24

I actually have no idea how they cook savaloys.
OP if they do taste the same cooked at home let me know as im down south for xmas, and will ask our chippy for some and stock up on them.
