What kind of food would you like at Bonfire night party?

Last year we had a small party bonfire night watched a local display then went back to my house to do a firepit and fireworks. This year have been asked if we are doing it again it, as it was such good fun!

I put on some hotdogs burgers and a curry.

Would like to do something different food wise this year although hotdogs always go down well so will prob so them again for the kids.

What would you like to eat at a bonfire party? Any sugestions for a dessert?

Yes, Leeds in Yorkshire. Glad to see a few other pie and peas officionados have turned up on this thread. I too was baffled by all this talk of hot dogs, soup and stews.

I really want a pie now and have been looking at some lovely pictures. I've had pies in various guises from a good few of these.

We do:

Hot dogs
Homemade chips served in newspaper cones like my mum used to make
Hot ginger punch
Hot Chocolate
Chocolate apples
Toasted marshmallows
Iced gingerbread traybake

Yes pork pie. It's delicious. A decent meat and potato pie would also be acceptable.

Yes, pork pies, like the Melton Mowbray type (I've actually been on a pilgrimage to Ye Old Pork Pie Shoppe Melton Mowbray and they're pretty damn good, but they have them in supermarkets these days)

This thread has reminded me that I need to set the self cleaning programme running on the ovens and dishwasher the door glass and all the internal bits before our bonfire party and MIL gets to fish around in said ovens for a pork pie.

Surely the only acceptable bonfire food is pork pie and mushy peas with mint sauce. Parkin for afters? Possible some bonfire toffee for good measure.

I like a pork pie as well as the next yorkshirewoman but a meat and potato or steak pie with peas and mint is lovely on a cold night.

If you are serving parkin (must be on the 3rd day so the flavour develops) don't forget a big slab of cheese to eat with it.

Might have to bake some parkin this weekend I reckon

Careful @Andtheresaw. The revelation that we eat our pork pies hot with mushy peas seemed a little hard to take in.

Finding out that we serve parkin (and Christmas cake) with cheese (must be Wensleydale) might send some people over the edge .

One of my friends from down south was mystified when I threw away all the icing off my piece of cake and delved into the cheeseboard at last year's Christmas party. Christmas cake and cheese is one of life's pleasures.

I'd want bowls of smoky chilli and then toffee apples

DC would want hot dogs in buns and sticky toffee pudding.

@BarbaraofSevillle My DH who played village green cricket strayed into a discussion of the best and worst cricket teas shortly after we married. His (Gloucestershire born) opinion of the team who served them all a heated pork pie and peas almost caused an annulment!

I'm shocked - no parkin pigs yet (gingerbread pigs)

Posh hot dogs (it butcher not herta), grand marnier hot choc for the adults.

Jacket potatoes. Relatively allergy friendly.

well the majority has spoken ....... It looks like its going to be pie and peas but am throwing my own spin on it were having

Scouse pie (scouse is like an irish stew)
will do some peas
Hot dogs for kids
mini donuts and might make toffee cakes.

Also from Yorkshire and never come across, pie and peas for bonfire grub! I’m pushing 60 and it’s always been baked spud (pref baked at the bottom of the bonfire, sausages, hot dogs, beans, Parkin, bonfire toffee and toffee apples. Pie and peas (am gobsmacked).

I need a hot pork pie now!

I cannot think of anything else except pork pie now and even if I wasn't on a diet, I can't have it

Never ever been anywhere that served a pie on bonfire night. It sounds messy, do you put the pie on a napkin and eat it like a hotdog? With mushy peas on top

I’m south west, we have toffee apples and hotdogs etc.
