Bloody iPhone won't ding

Oddcat · 17/10/2018 09:43

I updated my iPhone to iOS 12 and now it's stopped dinging when a text comes through .

I've tried all the fixes but nothing has worked . Anyone else have this problem and have you managed to fix it ?

My apologies if you've already done this, but have you checked the physical toggle on the side of your phone to make sure it's not on silent?

Not helpful for you, but that sounds like a great update. Bane of my life is the bloody iphone ding from people's phones.

It could be part of the new 'stop the pavlovian response to the ding' feature that's being introduced. Apple are all about wellness and counteracting phone addiction now.

Scroll down to the bit about taking control of your notifications. It could be that you're on a low notifications/do not disturb setting.

I noticed this as well. I went into settings and chose the tone. Now I get sounds notifications when I get an email.

Barbara I do agree that we are slaves to them.

I haven't got it switched to silent , it's not on Do not Disturb either .

Turn it off on and again

Turned it off and on again umpteen times.

I'm having the same problem...if I don't hear the faint vibrate noise I keep missing texts. So frustrating!

Oddcat · 17/10/2018 11:08

Mine doesn't even vibrate , my dd is in a bit of a bad place at the moment and she's texting me more than normal , I'm trying to suppprt her but keep missing her messages .

I get a ping when I receive an email even though that setting is set to no sound for emails Confused
