Old Dogs Not Vaccinated

I’ve got two old dogs that I no longer get the booster vaccinations for.

They go nowhere where they would come into contact with other dogs as have own land where we walk them.

My sister has just got a puppy who has had his first injections - would you let the dogs meet?

I'm not a vet but no I wouldn't. I don't see why you don't get your dogs vaccinated. My dog is 18 and still has his yearly booster.

I would let them meet. If you read up most dogs are fully vaccinated when they have had their puppy vacs and the age 1 annual booster. They only recommend boosters every 3 years now if you read up. If you are concerned, you could always titre test your older dog to check their immunity.

Yes, my old boy isn’t vaccinated anymore. I used to work with a vet who didn’t vaccinate his own dogs after 3 years, he said it was a money spinner and wouldnt do it.

I've never vaccinated beyond initial course and first year booster. I've titre tested and protection was all still as required. Most evidence shows vaccinating beyond 2nd/3rd year isn't necessary and often contraindicated. I'd absolutely let the dogs meet.

Thanks - i don’t get reminders From the vets anymore about their jabs.

It does seem unnecessary- it’s not like you get your kids vaccinated every year!
