I was involved in a car accident last week. The other driver's insurer has offered me a settlement claim for my injuries (head and lower back). I was examined at the time at A&E and am confident my head injury is unlikely to cause any lasting problems, although it is still very sore now. The insurer has offered my physio for my back which, based on my previous experience of back problems, should solve that issue. My back isn't shot, just niggly. In other words I don't expect I'll be plagued by un-gaugeable long term health issues.
In light of that, do you think the amount of compensation offered by the insurer would be fair? I know the insurer want to offer me the least they can get away with for a quick resolution, but do they tend to be reasonable offers? I've never been in this situation so don't know if I'm better getting a solicitor (who would obviously take a fee!). I'm hesitant to contact one for an idea in case I get hounded to give them the job. I also want a quick resolution, but equally don't want to be hugely under compensated.
