Expired credit cards and refunds

Hi

I made a purchase on my credit card in September and the credit card expired in September too. I am wanting to return the product (I have 60 days for a full refund). I haven't received my new credit card yet, what I want to know is can I take the item back to the shop with my expired credit card and will the refund go back properly onto my card or do I need to wait for the new credit card to arrive before I return it? I asked the credit card provider on the phone when I was chasing up the new card and they didn't know...

I think that because the old cc number will be associated with the new cc number you'll be ok - it's the same account, just a new card issue.

I had this situation earlier in the year. The refund went onto my new card.
