DP and I eat breakfast (not always together) and lunch at the table but have dinner in front of the telly on trays Confused
But now that we have a DC about to start on solids I think I'd like to start having "dinner as a family" at The Table. Thoughts?

If we eat with DS (so at the weekends) we eat at the dining table. During the week he eats at nursery and just has a snack when home and DH and I eat after he is in bed so we do eat in front of the TV. When DS eats with us every night when he is older we will eat at the dining table except for one night which will be a designated sofa and film night :)

Genuine LOL at What's your data Grin

I just find people who talk about eating at the table tend to be quite smug about it.

Usually. My eldest is still a toddler and clean up is vastly easier if it’s contained by the dinner table.

Sometimes as a treat we have pizza on the sofa.

Well the teacher who decided to lecture us on how to parent our child seemed quite surprised to learn that we ate with out child every night at the table - she was of the opinion that it was not very common and and we should be congratulated - still didn't solve his social anxiety issues though - she ran out of ideas after exhausting the google list. Hmm

Mostly at the table, we have tried trays on knees on sofa but most of the dinner ended up on the carpet. Our only exception is we sometimes have our lunch as a picnic on the rug in the living room.

We are mostly at the table at night. Time away from devices and to catch up.
Girls tell us most families they know are eat in front of TV families.
